OK, another probably dumb question on behalf of a new Z owner.
What's the deal with the beeps when the ignition is turned to the 'On' position before starting the car? Sometimes it beeps 3 times, other times twice, and sometimes 4 times. Is my car trying to tell me something? Did I miss something in the owners manual? I generally wait for the beeps to start before cranking the engine to make sure I'm not hurting anything. Thanks in advance.

bobbyz...
That's why I was wondering about it. I did some tests and noticed that it is linked to the seatbelt sensor. But now my next question...why will it only beep a maximum of 4 times? I've noticed that on most new Ford products the damn thing beeps, then stops...but if you're driving it screams at you every 30 seconds or so. I'm not dumb enough to try that here in Miami (I want 6 point belts just to keep me safe when I do get rammed) but I wonder if that's the case or if Nissan says 'if they don't get it after 4 they deserve to die....it's Darwinism'?

Those seat belt beeps are very annoying to those of us who don't use them. I used to cut off the latch from the rear middle seatbelt and stick it in the driver buckle. They never beeped after my "adjustment".

The beeps are coinciding with the trip computer (the 1st gauge of 3 above the center cubby) scrolling through the information displays.
From the owner's manual:
"When the ignition switch is turned
to ON, the display scrolls all the modes of the
trip computer and then shows the mode chosen
before the ignition switch is turned OFF"

I don't know why you bumped a 10 year old thread for something that is night and day different than what you are experiencing
