Question Headlight question!!!

Hello,

So i have modified 06+ headlights. Problem is the clear plastic headlight cover looks pretty hazy and has bad scratches on it. It bothers me every time I look at my car.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the pre06 headlight plastic cover fits on the 06+ headlights?

please tell me it does...

Are the scratches on the inside or outside of the lens?

I'm currently working on getting replacement lenses made for the 350z community. I wish i could help out now. I'm presently getting a template made sorry i am no help at this time. Before anyone asks, my friend is a lead engineer at 3m and that is who will be making them. So, they should be good quality.

Yes, 03-05 headlights lenses will fit the 06+ 350z. There is no difference that I know of.

Will these have the clearcoat on the inside so they don't eventually turn yellow or deteriorate from the heat of the bulbs? If these will last then I'll line up for a few sets. I've got access to several sets of very used (too used) 06 lights that only need new lenses to be perfect.

hmm so the 03 and 06 lense are exactly the same?

I just painted my housing and the inside of the lense are really sensitive. I have deep scratches in mine as well just from wiping them clean with windex and clean rag.

I won't know until the tooling company gets back in contact with me. They say they will give me a qoute on how much the tooling is going to cost within the next week but you know how that goes, I'm figuring a minimum of about 10k. i'll let you know as soon as they contact me back and i figure things out on my side. I say for the mean time just buy the ebay lights and do it that way. I wouldn't want to waste your time when i don't have any set deadlines as of now.

This is the route i went when my lenses became fractured. It is a pita though having to get the lenses off the new set, getting the lenses of your old set and having to correctly seal it. The hardest part of the process is to seal the lense so that moisture doesn't get in whenever you wash your car or it rains hard. If that happens it will continue to blow out your ballast and they are not cheap.

No matter what route you go, always use masking tape and tape up the lense so you don't get sealer on it while pulling them apart or putting back together. This way you can grip the lense while pulling, and you won't get sealer all over them.

I bought a used set of 2006 lights, and used the lenses from a brand new set of 05's. Just whatever you do, don't touch the inside of the lenses. The clear they use on the inside of them is very sensative.

makes me feel much better about what im about to do lol. I feel dumb buying a new set of ebay lights then taking them apart to reuse the lense

but your right, the inside are REAL sensative. I wiped the inside part one time and it was good. THen i had to take them apart again and wiped it with terry cloth and windex and it left deep scratches.

You won't feel so dumb after you put the lenses on though. When I modified my first 06 set I used the lenses that came with them. They were scratched up and looked pretty rough. I did the same thing u did and tried to clean the inside which was extreme fail. I went on and used them anyway, because I didn't wanna buy a cheap set just to use the lenses. So basically I did all that work for nothing because I hated the way they looked. Well I decided to finally buy an 05 set and use the lenses. Did it the right way and taped them off and didn't touch the inside. Put them back together and my lights looked brand new. I wish I had done it from the start, but u live and learn.
