Default DYI Top Replacement=Hell on earth

I dont think ive ever been this pissed off in my life. No wonder those upholstery people charge a cornea and $50,000 to replace the top.

I followed every step in the book. I had a step by step guide from a member that put one together

I just got my car back after 3 weeks. It got rear ended. Needless to say... The top didnt fit. I really am baffled at how much it did not fit. This whole process is a nightmare. Now , the car looks like this.

Ive never give up on anything. Today was the day i did. Im at a loss of ideas.

Now Im going to call Nissan tomorrow to see if there is any way they might feel merciful and not impale me with a HUGE estimate to fix the car.

A nightmare.. Only word I can find.

Got the top may 27th.. its now July 4th. No Money back after 30 days.

Wow that sucks man, sorry your going through it. Try posting in the Roadster section under general 350Z talk. There's been a few members here who have replaced the top themselves and got it done. Also did you try contacting the manufacture or seller of your top? Maybe they have some advice. It looks like it just really needs stretched, maybe see if you can get the rear to latch up first then apply some weight on the top at the windshield to force it to stretch. I don't know... ask around first before doing that as it seems a bit risky.

Good luck... you need it.

i know it sucks, but maybe starting over is the best thing to do to avoid being smashed by a dealership.

DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER.

This is life's way of challenging you. Start over with skilled help.

credit card company will usually give your money back if you document you issue, show a return tracking number and it helps if a professional local shop will give you a quote showing cost to fix/replace exceeding the price of the part etc.

Ive done it before.. its very simple.

Who made that roof? Nissan? Aftermarket?
