Default Valentine V1 Mounting Location

I just bought a valentine v1 radar detector from the z. I have seen some people on here that have mounted them in the middle of the headliner at the back of te seats. This is where I planned to mount mine to keep the windshield clear but I was talking to a guy at the audio store today and he seems to think that since it will be in a direct line with the rear view mirror the signals will bounce off the mirror and cause problems. Any thoughts on this or any experiences mounting in that spot?

Never had any problems with mine and it's at the back. Didn't mount it in the center, it's behind the passenger seat and points out that way so in theory the rearview is not interfering.

That looks good. How do you have it mounted up there? Also where did you mount the concealed display.

Stealth display...

There should be a little plastic plug that holds the headliner to the frame around the back hatch. I took it out and got a rubber plug that just fit the hole and put a bolt through it. it goes through the plastic clip and into the hole then tighten the bolt which compresses the rubber making it bulge and stick tightly in the hole.

Check here for similar installation...

Thanks Dave that's a big help. Did you pull down the headliner to run the wires? Did you tap into the fuse box next to the clutch pedal?

Didn't remove headliner. I ran the power wire from the fuse box (driver side kick panel) up next to the dash into the A-pillar then along where the headliner meets the door opening. Basically, i took a small putty knife and used it to work the wire into the gaps/junctions of the headliner and the interior pieces.
