Default Valentine V1 radar and mirrior mount install

Well i 've had my Valentine for awhile now and used the mount it came with to stick on to the winshield, which was getting very annoying and didnt look clean at all. So i purchased this mirrior mount from http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/Conn...arDetector.htm and I was very happy with this mount rather than sticking it to the windshield.

Install picl:

As you can see the mirrior mount is very small and light weight type of aluminum.

And you use the windshield mount clip that came with your V1 and directly screws into the bottom of the mirrior mount by 2 screws.

The top of the mount is held in by 2 allen screws

And there ya go a nice clean install compared to the windshield mount, some what stealthy and no more hanging wire. Directly hot wired into the home link mirrior "still have to complete" =D

side view

Front view

And that is the final product, I know it isnt cool like having the V1 installed into the mirrior or having it hidden in the rear head liner w/ a remote display but it does the job and good enough for me =D.

And i had to throw in a bonus picture of my Z hehe, thanks again guys !

Well i believe radars are only illegal in Virginia and maryland, radars are legal in Florida. The radar can simply be removed from the clip and slide right off.

A lil off-topic but...where have you seen ppl install it in the mirror or in the rear headliner?

Depends on the state, as was mentioned. In most all states it is only illegal to use a detector if you are on commercial driving duty (eg. truckers). But otherwise it is not illegal for civilian use. You cannot be cited for using one, but having on in plain sight will usually guarantee you'll get a ticket (ie. if you were speeding, you'll get the ticket and have little chance of talking your way out of it with a detector on the dash).

i like the home link mirror install. you can barely see it/tell what it is.. how, and how much, does it take to do it? if there is a link to a write up, let me know, thanks

i can definitely think of other places to put it, like if you have an aftermarket stereo and you got that double deck and your bottom half is still empty, put it there
or
if you have no navi, put it in that compartment somehow
or
to the right of the center console (towards the passenger side) positioned towards the driver so you can see it
