Default New Pedals installation

So maybe I'm just being lazy but I couldn't really find one, so just want to know if anyone knows of a DIY page showing how to remove the stock pedal covers (clutch, brake) I'm trying to install new MOMO pedals.

I know you can't take off the accelerator pedal cover. (06 base Z33)

According to some shops that I've searched online (Z1), they say that you do have to drill over the original pedals; which I assume is correct cause I really can't pry those things off. Just want to make sure you guys agree with that before I start anything.......

There is no "cover" on the base plastic accelerator pedal - it's all one piece. The pedal will come off the rod, but then you'll have nothing to mount your Momo pedal to. As for the other 2 pedals, the rubber covers will some off, leaving a thin metal pedal exposed, but either way, you'll be drilling and screwing the new parts on. Much easier to install a set of metal OEM pedals from a non-base car.

I replaced my rubber covers with aluminum pedals from Autovation. The rubber covers came off with a little tugging. I then drilled holes to mount the aluminum pedals. I did not remove the stock accelerator cover and just drilled holes to mount the Autovation pedal. The same is true for the dead pedal. Here is a picture of the pedals.................

Those look nice, but I prefer the OEM non-base pedals because I like to drive wearing only my socks, and the OEM metal pedals don't have any sharp edges.

Hmm yea maybe I just wasn't putting enough effort into trying to pry them off, how long did it take you to remove them!

The rubber is pretty stiff. Start with a corner, and once it's started, it won't be bad. Might help if the rubber is warm, like on a hot day, or maybe from a heat gun/hair dryer? You could also cut them off, if you're just going to throw them away. Use a box cutter/carpet knife with a new blade.

Thanks KornerCarver and dcains for giving me the motivation to stop being a little B*tch and finally get the rubber covers off! just worked with them took like 5 min..they are really tightly fitted (no pun intended)...I'll post the pick of them soon with the MOMO's.

Get those nismo mats back in and when you can purchase the OEM non-base dead pedal looks good though. I love metal pedals, much better than the factory rubber ones! Here's my pedals, the OEM metal dead pedal installed.

I agree with what everyone has said about the OEM rubber pedals being a ***** to get off. Not something I want to ever do again!

Thanks, Hell yea I'll be set once that dead pedal is completed!

Agreed bro, I love the metal pedals much better..a more firm feel! Its winter season in MN so I gotta take the matts off....although we haven't gotten any snow plus temps are keep going down and up (30's to 60's) so maybe I should lol

hahahah I just thought this was the funniest comment I've seen in awhile.

OT: I wasn't aware that some models of the Z come with rubber pedals? Interesting.
