Question Opinions on vinyls

What are your opinions on vinyls such as the carbon fiber wraps on a hood.
Do people look down on them like stickers?

also I'm not talking about full car wraps to change the colors, but those carbon fiber wraps for the hood or something

I think it makes you look like a poser. Do you go to UCI?

Tacky AF!
Save up for a real CF hood.
People want instant gratification these days and don't know how to save!

If you wrap the hood, that vinyl wouldnt last 6months (Bubbles and easy scratches) and a real carbon fiber hood would last at least 4 +years if kept in a garage.

Premium vinyl like the 3m 1080 lasts 4+ years outdoor, will not bubble or peel. Both my cars are completely wrapped and does not show scratches at all. The cheap materials from ebay will bubble or peel.

Nope,

and thanks for the replies, my friend was trying to convince me to get a wrap since it was cheaper and he said it protected paint, not really sure how others thought of it if I chose to go for carbon fiber ones.

Do what pleases you. It's your car. I have wrapped my entire car to change the color when I need to sometimes.

wrapping an entire to change to color is cool, since it does protect the paint. But wrapping a hood cf to make it look like a cf hood is kind of embarassing lol

Because its cheaper? You do know the purpose of a CF hood is to be lighter than the original and therefore make your car "faster".

Dont CF wrap your car, Id be so embarrassed to drive a car with a CF wrapped hood.

Except most CF hoods weigh more than the stock aluminum hood.

Exactly! I got a seibon hood cause my hood started peeling and figured might as well. It didn't feel much lighter than the oem hood but it looks fantastic. Mostly an aesthetics thing.

I want to wrap my CF hood to my silver body color since I am not 100% decided if I want it painted or I want it CF or when I sell it, people want CF than silver

Do what you want but I am not too sure about the CF wrap, might look funny

Don't do it, CF vinyl looks matte in sunlight because of the texture. My 335i is fully vinyl wrapped and I had a CF vinyl roof done to match the other real CF pieces on the car. For the most part it looks good, but sometimes in direct sunlight I don't like how it looks matte compared to the gloss of the other CF pieces. But they don't make a CF roof cap for the car...I'm considering having the CF changed to gloss black. And on the roof it's not as noticable since the viewing angle is different. On a hood, the finish would be much more obvious.

CF vinyl looks much better on small parts like interior trim pieces.

I agree. I'm sick of carbon fiber, when I first got my car it had fake carbon fiber everywhere and was a pain pealing up.
