This is epic. I had a G35 Coupe in 2005 that I sold. I'm planning to buy a new one to build and tinker with for fun. This thread gave me more inspiration to do it. I can't even imagine how much you ended up spending. Who did your interior work? Especially for the carbon skinning and door panels if you don't mind me asking.

Time to wire this thing in:
Console and e brake almost ready to ship back out to me..
I'm. Re wrapping a few parts of the car today, and then hopefully I can lay down the side stripes and finish the door graphics etc.
Muffler should arrive weds but it's gonna be a bit before I get it installed.. Sema is near.

Thanks to Antonio (Darkz03) for the assist w the wiring.. I wanted to add the details here in what to do.
To add an 06 illuminated steering wheel control set up to a previous year.. You can buy an extra stereo wire harness and steal the wire pins out of it... Same thing /size as the cruise plug.
Buy an 06 clock spring so that all the wires are available and proper on the steering wheel side.
Pull the grey plug off the back (car) side of the clock spring and let it hang down..
Use a pick tool to open the white lock on the plug..
Add your wires to the plug and clip the white lock piece back down . It doesn't matter what color wires you add, as long as you keep track of what you added and what it goes to etc..
So your ground gets... Grounded lol.. The illumination plus and minus however need to go over to the TCS switch in the lower dash.
The illumination isn't a normal ground.. It's actually the dimmer rheostat side.. So separate out the red/yellow Red/blue wires . The red yellow is the illumination ground, the other is the illumination positive..
Solder, wrap, reinstall all and boom.. Done..
I ran the audio wires behind the tablet and will connect the joycon programmable controller soon.
Full cruise, illumination dimmer function, audio control etc.. Just as oem would have.

Exhaust is done for now, at least until I can afford the labor to have the tips made.. So far, I have 3000 bucks invested in one pipe lol.. The tip fascia and overall fabrication will likley run me another 750 to 1000.. Smh. But it will be worth it and will be unique and top quality oem fitment etc.
Had him just tack a piece of 4 inch tubing on there w an angle cut just to avoid heat issues w hot exhaust and the current body work..
As for sound... It's definitely loud on start up, and the overall tone is like a blend between an AP single and a Tomei single... But with a deeper more throaty and vocal overall "voice"... especially under load when driving etc.. The drone isn't bad, and it's a little boom on decel .. but the overall bs, boring and tacky vq sound is mostly changed now, thanks to the much larger piping.
This was definitely a good idea overall.. And offers a totally unique sound . One that no one will be able to guess as I drive past. Etc.

Boring and tacky VQ sound? They're still some of the best sounding things on the road today, bone stock, 15 + years after the first ones hit the road. They get pushy and obnoxious when guys go overboard and run a straight pipe or equivalent cause they're getting jealous of that raspy Honda revving next to'em.

Yeah they sound good bone stock, that's about it.
I've owned 5 different exhausts over a 14 year period w this platform on my car alone, let alone countless friend and customer cars I've experienced. .. I have more than earned my ability to say that they still all sound like sh#t. Lol.

Pardon my intrusion upon you're wildly fascinating build thread. I'll pull this down if you want so as not to clutter up your **** but I beg to differ about only sounding good bone stock. Please keep in mind that I am not trying to compete for the craziest sounding exhaust on the planet and the vid below is short some decibels, not quite picking up on the depth but is close enough. Tomei headers, kinetix hfc's and invidia duals. Revving starts 2/3rds the way to the end. Where's the bmccann101 sound clip?

Cool car n all, but that's not the kind of build I'm doing here.. It's apples to oranges really. I mean.. You run cats lol.. Cmon man.
The issues you deal with when you open these cars up is that the firing pattern of the v6 does not make for a very nice sound.. Turbo or not.
Where is "my" sound clip ? I'm sure u can find plenty of older ones on the YouTube channel or elsewhere on this thread, but
right now as u can see, I'm busy building a car.. Sound clips and rolling shots are not on my docket.
I'll post one when I can make one... Right now I'm heading to sema.. So you'll all just have to wait.

Thanks. More like grapes to bowling *****. I've probably spent on mine, in total, what you've spent on your carbon fiber interior alone.
The purpose of my sound clip was simply to refute the point that a VQ sounds good in stock trim only, not to suggest it for your Z.
Of coarse I run catalytic converters. I'm too old to be f'n around with stupid **** that can potentially get me into trouble. State inspections yearly.
Can't wait for the sound clip!
