Question Non-HID question

I am looking to buy a car with halogen bulbs. I would like to keep halogen lights for the simplicity and low cost. It's also less weight on the front of the car.
I would like to use the 06+ style lights. I know there would be rewiring involved. That's ok.
Would the light output be alright in the 06+ headlight?

There are literally HUNDREDS of threads on what the light output with 06+ headlamps are. Compared to the stock low HID high halogen they are great! If your car you bought or are buying has the stock low beam HID's the 06+ will be plug and play. If you got a base model with both low and high beams being halogen, there is a tutorial on here in the lighting section.

Long story short, if you have halogen only lamps, use Sylvania Silverstars (not that ZXE crap) The orange packed bulb sets. They will be VERY bright and you will like the light ouput.
But if you are bound and determined to use 06+ Bi-xenon then go for it! Even if you have to rewire them (again if you have stock HID LOW BEAMS and HALOGEN HIGH BEAMS the 06+ will be plug and play...no wiring modification needed!) The Bi-xenon in my opinion is brighter and more noticeable and yes they look cooler. Do a google search for "06+ 350z Headlights my350z" you will get HOURS of results to look at and learn yourself something good luck!

Retrofitting a halogen bulb in and HID housing will yield the same result as installing an HID bulb in a halogen housing - crap. Placement and orientation of the filament is critical to beam pattern and light output. Why waste you time with such an ill-conceived project? To save weight? Really???

Thanks. That makes sense. I read through ten pages of threads trying to find someone doing it the other way around.
I know all about HID conversions and have shopped on theretrofitsource before. I'll have to decide if the sexy look of 06 housings is worth it to me.

Wait so you are trying to retro-fit 06 headlight assemblies or just the projector housings?

I wish more people would upgrade for REAL PERFORMANCE... the only reason to upgrade to '06s.

If you're on a budget, get the Depo '06> lights from eBay. Almost as good as OEM, and far less $

Simplicity, cost, and weight?

My headlights haven't been complicated. I turn them on, I see where I'm driving, I turn them off.

My headlights didn't cost any extra. They came with the car. 8 years ago.

As for weight, you will have 1 extra wire per side so maybe 1 pound. Then the ballast per side is maybe another pound. Go take a dump and you just saved more weight than having halogen lights.
