Sorry if this is a repost, just looking for a quick answer. What is the number of the bulb that the Z has for a high beams?
I mean like 9005 or what not? Im interested in just buying a pair of those Sylvania lights that are supposedly white for the high beams.
Thanks

Additionally, I would also like to replace the peripheral bulbs in the headlight assembly (on HID equipped Z's) with the same.
Anyone got any ideas?

Peripheral bulbs? Parking lights?
I don't know what else to call them: I'm talking about the third bulb in the HID's housing. These "third" lights are smaller and are angled inwards where they shine against a reflector that scatters this light to the periphery.
This light is a great idea to address the only legitimate (IMO) complaint about HID lights: that they are too "focused" and straight ahead leaving your peripheral vision darker thus creating a type of "tunnel vision" effect at night. Nissan, in their divine wisdom (
Anywho, wouldn't it be cool to replace those with hyperwhites or ultrawhites (something with a color temperature somewhere between 4000k and 5000k)???
For instance, I like the color of APC's Ultrawhite (4000k) Simulated HID bulbs. Wouldn't they look great added to our true HID lighting systems? It seems as if they would look better than the "yellowish" bulbs used by the factory to light up the sides of the road on our HID equipped Z's.
Just a thought.

Hmmm I think your referring to the parking lights which arent meant to spread more light as they dont put out enough light. the best current alternative is Ares LED lights. But they stillarent amazingly bright, just look nicer

If you go out and look inside your HID housing, you will see you have 4 lights.
1. The HID projector
2. The high beams
3. The parking lights on the side (amber)
4. The "peripheral" lighting bulbs to with I was referring
Now, for all I know these little white lights may also be responsible for illuminating the amber parking lights from behind, as these side lights also turn on when the parking lights turn on. If these lights are the source of illumnation for the parking lights then indeed we are talking about the same bulb. It may serve two purposes.
Anywho, seeing as this bulb is visible and provides side lighting, what is the name of it and is it available in an "ultra white" or simulated plasma HID, etc.?
These bulbs are small "white" halogen-type bulbs that shine against a reflective plate that scatters the light outwards (in a fan-like pattern) to give the driver more peripheral vision. I assume the indirect lighting and the method of scattering it is an effort to provide light to the corners without annoying other drivers as they pass. They also may be the source of light for the parking lights; I do not know as they seem to be illuminated from behind. Is it the same bulb?
If you haven't noticed, I know nothing about the lights on this car.
Did that make more sense?

Thanks for helping.

lol you cant explain and Im so tired i dont understand. I cant go out now but i understand the first two. The amber bulb is the turn signal. the small one off to the side facing inwards is the normal colored bulb which is the parking light. Ill check tom. though. Anyone else have any idea?
Ahhh im gonna go to bed. i cant think about lights any more tonight

Ah, I see. The white bulb is also considered part of the parking lights!
I considered the parking lights to be just the amber parts on the side; I didn't know parking lights were allowed to be clear.
Are those little white bulbs available in a plasma type ultra white from someone like APC? I'd like them to better match the HID color. Does anyone know the part number for that bulb? It really does serve a useful function since HID's are projected so narrowly.
