Srsly don’t do the fiberglass, save yourself the grief. I went OE+ direction putting an HR hood on my rev up today. The hump in the middle looks way cooler, and adds clearance underneath. Replaced cause one stud snapped on original. I got the same ax6 red color too, lucky deal!
Fiberglass or carbon are ok, they just need to be a good brand. Personally I hate when they put HR style hood on non-HR powered cars, i feel like they are trying to pass it off as HR. To each their own tho.
If you actually look at it there isn't much of a difference, the difference is towards the front of the engine which won't help, specially if you want to retain the strut brace.
Did look under it with light. More room then the sharp angle version. Anyways I’m happy with it. But yes carbon, FRP, urethane is totally fine when it comes to fenders & bumpers, but hoods I almost don’t trust.
I trust them almost as much as the OEM, the stock one feels sturdy but it isn't, it takes very little to compromise it and the entire sheet of aluminum to peel off. It's for a reason, on the other hand I would never use fiberglass or carbon structural body panels. Lips, splitters and spoilers are cool, hood is ok, hatch only for racing.

Going to have to disagree there, I got an OEM HR hood for my DE and there is room to spare. I bought three different aftermarket strut bars over the years trying to clear my intake manifold spacer without contacting the hood. All of them were basically worthless since they had hinged points which caused chassis flex on hard cornering. I was able to easily go back to the OEM strut bar with spacers on the HR hood without issue. The HR hood also emphasized and deepened the VQ sound on acceleration, which I like, since the engine noise has more volume to travel between the intake manifold and hood.

If there was a titanium hood, nobody would be down with the price, but the weight savings any better then cheaper aluminum. Same with my old Evo VIII has an alu hood. Many guys echoed going to many carbon hoods were heavier cause of the frame they bond it to.

Been proven that the OEM 350z aluminum hood is generally lighter by at least a two or more pounds over carbon fiber aftermarket hoods. At least lighter than the wet carbon ones, only ones lighter are usually in the $2k-4k ballpark for dry carbon such as ASM.
Note pricey JDM GarageMak panel gaps and thickness of the hood not being consistent.

Comparing NRG hoods aka ebay (topic of this thread) brands $$$ with Varis $$$$ or higher end JDM brands, especially on pricing isn't exactly apples to apples. So you bought a carbon Varis hood?
JDM parts can be overly hyped, I should know, I've purchased many over the years. On my 350z, I owned Varis exhaust heat shields and those fit okay at best. JDM GarageMak which I have seen in person on an acquaintance's 350z, fitment was far from OEM and required quite a bit of additional bodywork.
Its one thing to know, another to just speculate, like the HR hood with strut bar fitment. Not trying to be an ****, a lot of misinformation is spread based on speculative opinion. When purchasing parts especially in the thousands, I prefer to know from evidence to avoid mistakes.
Yes, I have the Varis hood. I wouldn't say it's perfect but its Better than ANY other aftermarket hood I've seen. Maybe I gave the JDM market high praise but you can't deny their products tend to be better than anything local. I mean look at the pictures of the spoiler I posted for reference.
Here's an other example:
Z1 headers did NOT fit on my car, Tomei were flawless and fit 100%
Not saying it's always like that, it's just a trend I've seen. I wouldn't take offense and I enjoy a good debate, I personally never seen the inner difference of the HR but the edges are the same and I would say that dictates most of the space for the bar. My car has the Carbing bar and Kinetix Velocity so I have none of those issues. Here's a pic of the current state of my car.

We're both on the same page with regards to JDM better than the local "ebay" brands. NRG and the likes are generally made in China, basically make a quick buck and let the customers deal with it. Your car looks awesome, just don't think your wheels match the magnitude of the look. 👍

Thanks! And working on it, I don't trust many local shops and I've been wanting TF-works to mount my tires but they are swamped and won't take in extra work. Here's my wheels...
