Default HID ballast swap into non HID headlights

Hi everyone,

I’ve done some research here and on 350z tech but have come up empty handed, maybe someone here has attempted something similar. I have an 05 350z with stock HID, and would like to use my ballasts and lights in a non HID headlight housing. They have some great led work done to them and are exactly what I want. Does anyone know if this is possible? Any advice is welcome, thanks for your time.

Anything is possible but is it worth the time and effort is more the question.

It's my *understanding* (not practiced knowledge as my light upgrade work has all been done on '06+ Bi-Zenon lights) that the non-HID/Halogen units are different BUT similar enough to make them work as HID housings. But I don't think it makes much sense because...

You will need to do other work besides installing the ballast; to do it correctly, you'll also need to swap out the projectors, lenses, and possibly reflectors to make this work as a full-on HID light. I believe that the reflectors for Halogen based lights are different than projector style HIDs just based on how halogen lights work. Then you also might run into alignment issues and all of the work will be for nothing. BUT THAT'S JUST MY TAKE.

Personally, I would consider swapping whatever LED options you're talking about into the HID housing which has got to be eminently more doable and easier. But in for the answer out of curiosity.

Thanks for the input! I was hoping to not have to open the housings, but if the lenses, reflectors, etc need to be swapped too then moving the led components seems to be the most reasonable path.

PLEASE use housings designed for HID bulbs.

I'm about fed up with people running high wattage (or regular wattage high beams) all the time.

With the advent of LED Bulbs & HID conversions it's a "thing" to blind oncoming traffic & not dimming when flashed. It's particularly bad here with all the needle d!cks and their negative rake pickups.

Default I Want Halo’s

So I have a 2003 350z. Now, I want to get some Halo (angel eye) lights on it but every pair I find is incompatible with OEM HID models. And of course my car has said HID headlights. How on earth can I get the angel eyes if none will fit in the HID model, is there a way to convert it?

Split open your headlights. Attach halos using high temp epoxy or wire. Close headlights. Done.
