Question 2004 350Z Headlights don't work - modified wiring?

I just picked up this 350Z as part of a trade. Getting into it I found the headlights don't work. They do not turn on, no high beam, no low beam, no turn signal, no running lights. I took them out and it looks like the wiring has been modified. There is a wire that I think might be a ground with a terminal that goes nowhere (see pictures). The driver and passenger side were both messed up. The driver's side was even missing its ballast, which I've ordered a replacement for. My question is this: can I buy new headlight wiring or do I have to buy a whole headlight? If I can buy the wiring what is the part# I need to search for? If I have to buy new headlights, which I'd rather do because these are foggy, please point me in the direction I need to go with that. It looks like most aftermarket ones require you to bring over the old wiring which obviously I need to avoid. I've been struggling to find exactly what I need.

note: the taillights do work perfectly.

Amazon Amazon

On further searching based on a part number I found in another thread, this looks like a suitable plug-and-play replacement. Any thoughts?

Okay I still need help. I put in the new headlights and I am still getting nothing on the passenger side. No running lights, no turn signal, no high beam or low beam, nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Okay at this point I checked all the fuses in the engine bay and they are fine. I have replaced the headlamp assemblies which came with all new bulbs except for high beam low beam BUT I am not getting turn signals or anything. Can anyone help? It's a little frustrating that nobody has responded to this thread at all.

There are too many different variables. A good place to start would be to check all the wiring for continuity and also check the BCM to make sure that still works properly.

Thanks for at least replying. That gives me a direction to go in. I will have to get a multimeter so I can do continuity testing. I would like to think the BCM isn't the issue if its other functions work, for example wipers, rear lights, cluster lights, etc. I'll grab a multimeter tomorrow and start continuity checking but it is weird to me that both headlight assemblies are doing the same thing.

Also check the pinouts on the harness from the body. If those are correct, then it could be the harness on the headlight.

Or it could be something as simple as the ground for the parking light and turn signal. I think those share the same ground.

That'll be very helpful. I'll pick up a multimeter tomorrow and check all this wiring.

It's going to be a process of elimination. Start at the body wiring harness and you work you way down the line. Check the pinouts from the harness with each function. If that's good, connect it to your headlight harness and then check the outputs where the sockets are located.

Or vice versa working your way back to the BCM.

Good luck!

I checked the headlight harness first and it is good. Body wiring harness also seems fine. I was hoping it wasn't BCM but it's looking bad.

Side stupid question, the little corner markers in the bumper don't have to be plugged in/present, do they?

Well, that sucks. I think you already mentioned that you checked all the fuses.

As for the corner markers, those are just reflectors. They don't illuminate (unless you have aftermarket replacements). They don't need to be present. I don't have any since I went with the Nismo V2 front bumper.
