So what kind of options do I have when it comes to getting rid of that stupid halogen high beam light?

smartest solution is to go with high-output halogen bulbs, we sell them.. fairly inexpensive and more functional than an HID kit (in populated areas where you worry about offending oncomming traffic).

You dont want HID highbeams unless you have a complex mechanical system to control them. HIDs arent used much for high beams because they lose life rapidly when used for flashing and short durations. Not to mention they require a warm up time.

MB makes HID highbeams by actually mechanically adjusting the focus point of the beam. Since our Zs do not have this capability, we are stuck buying high output halogens.

ranger5oh got it right.

the fx45 does it too 35 too I think. the lens adjusts to aim the light higher. HID doesnt flash very well.

bi-xenon is typically found on projectors that have a servo which lowers the shield more when the high-beams are activated. from what ive seen, they also use a separate halogen bulb in addition to the HID shield being lowered -- the halogen bulb is mounted in a separate high-beam unit.. so its a mixture of more light being emitted out of your bi-xenon low-beam projector, and, the halogen high-beam being activated.

either way.. its not something thats amazingly useful unless you live in low-populated areas where glare isnt a concern..

Excellent explanation. This is what I read before on some of the technical HID sites out there.

Default bulbs?

You people are God's gift to ignorant Z owners!
Naw. Just kidding around... I was curious about doubling xenons, but needed the analysis. Honestly, I don't care about oncoming traffic... when you're going at high speeds you need great visibility. However, I am somewhat apprehesive because of what somebody said about flashing... Anyway, would somebody be kind enough to provide me with the stock highbeam bulb code, the code for high output halogen bulb everyone is talking about as an upgrade (one that wont melt or harm the chrome finish inside the housing), and the xenon highbeam bulb's code (again one that wont burn the finish)? Thanks a lot!!! I think this would help a bunch out there.
