Default Fitting US NISMO lip

I bought a U.S.-spec NISMO front lip a while back and my installers are having a very difficult time trying to get it to fit right (see photo). It seems pretty clear the shape of the lip does not match the compund curves of the front fascia. Has anyone else run into this problem with a U.S. - spec lip? I have a fairly early 2003 Z and I'm wondering if they didn't subtly change the shape on later production cars. Any assistance on this would be appreciated.

I had no problems with fitment and my Touring 6MT is about the same vintage as yours (Sept. '02 build month)

it seems like picture was taken from driverside bumper.
you are looking down front driver side bumper from front driver side headlight area.
you see driver side smoked side markers and lip.
hope this helps

I can visualize the angle from which the pic was taken but, what is that reflector piece?

LOL, he's standing right above the driver's side headlight and taking a picture downwards. The dark mass at the top is his bumper, the orange piece is his sidemarker, and the blue piece is the lip.

If you look at the lip, it doesn't line up flush against the bumper. There are some gaps as the lip isn't contoured the same as the bumper.

I am trying to see what I am looking at but, I just can't. I understand the angle but it doesn't appear to be attached to the car as you suggest.

Sorry guys, the photo was taken standing over the driver's side headlight looking straight down. You can see the curve of the body on both sides of the side marker is quite different from the contour of the top of the lip, leaving gaps in two places. Maybe I shouldn't have posted that after a friday night!

He just has a very shiney bumper. I'm guessing he used Zaino.

Here's a crude drawing of where the camera is (or the part of the picture he cropped to leave in). The reflector isn't that close to the headlight...

Ok, hehe I see it now, that is crazy how a db bumper can have a reflection like that. Its almost as if the bumper is chrome plated & a db lip was added. If somone were to do a quik ps job & fill the bumper in db to match the lip it would be seen right away......

Drj, I'm sorry about your fitment issues! Its as if it needs to be streched a bit. I think body shops can heat pieces to get them to fit but I'm not sure how that works or what it would do to the paint...best of luck!

I'm amazed -- Zaino it is! About 5 coats now. The body shop I'm using (WetWorks) does a lot of custom work and they've been trying everything: tape, heat, swearing . . . Just doesn't seem to want to work. Here's the same problem from the passenger side.

AHHH...I GOT IT!!! It was like one of those hidden pictures you have to stare at with crossed eyes...lol. I couldn't go to bed until I figured it out.

The top part IS the car, its just reflecting the ground and body kit part.
