People arguing that it's simply an abbreviation of the word Japanese don't seem to realize that that word was used in hate to marginalize the Japanese.
Ok, I'm done with this. Obviously, the people who are going to keep using it will keep using it, and there's nothing I can say to convince you otherwise. Just know that you are using a racist slur even if you think it isn't.

If people want to shorten the word Japanese or Japan because they are too lazy to type, there's a perfectly valid abbreviation -- JPN.

Show me a link from this forum where someone used the dreaded unapproved three letter abreviation and intended dis-respect by using it, and I will delete this post, until then quit whining about how you percieve the world and change your perception instead of trying to change the world.
If you want to know what offensive is; people are always calling my ex-wife a retarded hillbilly, and frankly if I were either retarded or a hillbilly I would be offended by that. Perhaps you need to know my ex-wife to truly understand, but trust me it's true.

There's no word you could use to offend me.

Just do a search for "jap scene" or "Jap imports" or anything related to cars and its jap this.com and jap that, jap car shows and on and on.
its just lingo. Look up the N word and i doubt you'll get similar results.
its not like anyone is running around here saying "those damn Japs, I hate japs, jappy jap jap japarooo" If anything, if not for your people we wouldnt be driving Z's and we would all be very sad.
