True both my grandparents used all the derogatory terms but thats because of what they went through.

I would think most people on this forum have not been in WWII apart from maybe Brickyard Rat - or was that WWI??!!

i agree, if you shoot at me or try to bomb me i will forever hate you and call you whatever I feel. With 99% of us on this forum that does not apply so I feel Jap is racist and would encourage others from not using the term if it offends a member.

Agreed. But anyone born in this new days shouldnt be really using it , its really just ignorance. But in a world were people of my own culture use ngga and other races use comments to define eachother or use them to express themselves from lack of verbage lol. What can you really do. The days of clear racism is gone, now its really what society deems is acceptable. The term jap i rarley here anymore. But from my grandfather who is a vet. But he laughs it off sometimes because my jap car makes his old and new impala look terrible. Well, his old SS would beat mine on the straights more like murder me lol but with his governor he wasnt really going anywhere lol.

If you ask any of my Japanese friends they will tell you it's offensive. I'm not sure about racists, becuase I do not know if it implies that the person who utters the word believes they are racially superior. However, without question it is a derogatory word--so just let it go and use "JPN" instead. Is that too much to ask?

If people want to shorten the word Japanese or Japan because they are too lazy to type, there's a perfectly valid abbreviation -- JPN.

But being on a Z website referring to a car as Jap should in no way be found as derogatory...and if you take offense to something like that then maybe you need to be in a little bubble separating you from the rest of the world.

Edit: yes, I bypassed the filters to post this but only to make my point. lol

You dont have to try and insult someone, in order for them to find what you say offensive. Obviously he is offended by the use of the word Jap and I garauntee you, there are 1000's of others like him.

I dont see, what it has to do with being on this site. Its to the point now, where people think its ok, to disregard other peoples perspective of what derogatory should mean.

To my knowledge, Jap nor Niggxx were any forms of endearment. What I dont understand is, people can respect the use of the word "b***h" when aimed at women, but cant respect not using what other ask not to.

Hopes this make sense started drinking early

I know this is an extremely old post but this comment had me going. For some odd reason I thought of the Chapell (I hope I spelled that right) Show, the skit about the draft. LOL
