Default Vortech horsepower figures?

Using stock boost and conservative tuning on a stock G35 coupe,
how much power will the car have with the Supercharger?
And can the 6mt hold the power safely?

I have a conservative tune with the stock pulley, putting 360 to the ground on a dynojet.
I had 252rwhp before the Vortech!

Thank's for the reply. Damn my ZR1 had around 360 at the rear
wheels and it was damn fast. Vortech here I come!

My car with no other mods put down 376 RWHP on a dyno jet. I put down 246 RWHP stock all I had was a PopCharger and a grounding kit. Good Luck.

With no other mods, you should be able to get 360 rwhp and 315rwtq easy with a conservative tune. BTW, these figures are subjective to where you start... basically about a 120rwhp gain over where you are now is about right.

Remember that this is a progressive linear power gain on a centrifugal type supercharger. So, it is going to start out feeling only a little stronger down low and pull harder and harder as you move to redline. Unlike a TT which is going to give you an immediate kick in power and hold that power pretty constant.

My Vortech has been on for 15K miles and was originally tuned to 425rwhp. Have had zero issues with the tranny other than the typical gear grinding problem that everyone has with the early transmissions.

Great replies. I really appreciate the help. I would be more than
satisfied with 340-360 rwhp.

mcduck - thanks for your input on the differeces between the supercharger and TT. it clears my curiosity about power delivery.

I have been really leaning towards a TT but with the Vortech being considerably cheaper, I think it may be a no brainer.

I debated this for a while as well. I chose the Vortech (to be installed in Jan) and I really am only looking for about 360whp ... more than enough to make me smile everyday ..... for a while at least

The average I see from the Vortech's are about 360ish with conservative tuning and around 380 mildly agressive. Andy is our local Fraaaank en schteeen

you will be satisfied with 360 rwhp until someone else spanks you...the power is addictive.... i'm prolly putting out 370-380 actual rwhp...it is plenty fast, but i would love 500-550 actual rwhp!

Yeah it is addictive. But 360rwhp will beat most stock cars,
and I am not looking to drag race. I just want something equal
or a little faster than my previous 98 corvette. A vortech unit should do the trick. Thank's again for the replies.

Really 360 is enough to have fun with. I just got a good combo of things going to hit the 420 number. That extra little bit doesn't make that much of a difference to me. But I do get a big kick out of telling people at show (particularly non-Z events), that my car is putting out over 500hp at the crank. (500hp - 17% drive train loss = 415rwhp)

I tell them that, back it with the dyno sheet I have framed and keep in the car, then watch them do this...

dunno!

Really can't get any numbers without traction.

I went to the drag strip and got a 13.8 @ 106 with a 2.3 60' and a passenger.

I'm much more lethal from a 40-50mph roll.

hehe... that's pretty scary, chops. My times are about like yours. At first I was very disappointed with my 1/4 mile times and thought it was largely due to traction as well. At just over 400hp, I was only able to pull a 13.8 at 109mph.

Then I realized the following...
1 - all my runs were done with passengers (except my very first one)
2 - when I weighed my car, I found I was running carrying 3610lbs! and that was with one of the light passengers who weighed in right at a buck. So, minus her...3500lbs. I need to a)empty the car before I run, b) have less gas in the car when I run, and c) go on a diet!
3 - Of course, I also had trouble getting traction. Had several <.10 reaction times, but my 60ft times were all 2.5 or higher.
4 - As of this week, I now know without a doubt my old clutch was slipping. Just had tranny #3 put in by Nissan this week with a new (and redesigned) Nissan stock clutch. I can clearly tell how much better it grabs... the gears shifts literally snap your head back it clamps so quickly.
5 - (BIG factor)... it was my first trip to the strip... I am such an amateur at timed 1/4 miles... I was unable to hook up well and didn't shift nearly hard/quick enough on my runs.

All that taken into account, I'm pretty happy with my times... Why do you ask? Well, considering other factors that limit my trap time, what really matters are the trap speeds. With a trap speed of 109mph, I know the car is capable of very low 12 second runs. Now, its just a matter of improving my driving and optimizing traction to hit those numbers. With any luck, I'll get a chance to try again in Feb or March.

I also agree with chops, that the Vortech setup is absolutely lethal from a roll. I like launching at about 35-40mph in 2nd or 75mph in 3rd! WOOHOO!!!

charged...: With 360hp and a hooking up relatively well, you should be in the mid-4s 0-60. I figure if I could get my car to hook up better I would be in the low 4s
