Default Vortech w/ 3.12 pulley and AAM Reflash

Just wanted to share my experience after having the 3.12 pulley and AAM ECU reflash done at Altered Atmosphere Motorsports. All in all, the car is MUCH faster all the way to redline. I havent gotten my dyno charts emailed to me yet, but the difference bewteen the before and after curves for hp/tq are incredible. Power curves for hp/tq just shoot way up right off the bat, huge difference and you can definitely feel the difference, the car pulls really hard. From looking at the hardcopy of my dyno chart, here are the changes for 4-6k rpms for before and after dyno.

Before (whp/lb-tq) After (whp/lb-tq)

4K 175 / 205 260 / 270

5K 280 / 238 390 / 285

6K 350 / 267 400 / 292

So as you can see, huge increases in power and the torque really jumps up there by about 65lb-tq at 4K. I would absolutely recommend the pulley upgrade to anyone. I have driven the car pretty hard for the past few days and have had no problems. The ECU reflash was the complete deal, included all the features AAm offers - rev limiter increased, speed limiter removed and they were able to tune the car to perfection. Car runs awesome now and I'm very happy with the results.

Again, thank you Altered for the great work!

Aaron...did you have them tune with the R4 program . Or have you ditched it and the FMU and aux. fuel pump ?

Booger -

I believe they used the R4 again, that is what they told me they were going to do, but with the reflash and all, they were also able to play with the timing, R4 only works with the fuel I believe.

No..you can controll timing with the R4 . Thats some of the info what Ive been trying to find out . Timing advance can be taken out with a flash also . AAM mentioned it , but didnt go into it further with me .

I guess I should have said...you can retard timing with the R4 , that all . I believe with a flash you could retard or advance the timing

Those are nice numbers, with a 5AT no less. How much boost were you seeing with the pulley?

Hey yeah who knows, see if you can make it out to that hooters meet i am having a week or so...should be fun though, yeah your car is fast as ****, i love it, couldn't get eneough of it man i love the power, and its layed down soo easily with the 5AT Tranny, any other car with a 6MT would have massive amounts of wheel hop, i love it though 5AT upgrade next? im looking into level 10 for the upgrade...quoted like $800 for a valve body job...

Ben -

The level 10 valve body upgrade I will be doing some time in the future. I really need a coilover setup now, looking at the TEIN basic setup. I'll be purchasing that and having install done at AAM, so I will talk to you soon. I'll try to make that Hooters meet.

Nice numbers!
Whats a ballpark price for the pulley and the reflash with install.

Thanks

ThreeFitty -

Pulley will cost you about $65 from Vortechs website - you will also need a shorter belt. Definitely recommend a 93in GATES belt. Install for pulley will be about 2hr labor, maybe 150 bucs. I got the reflash for $495, a great price IMO. And then if you are gonna have your car dyno tuned as well, then that will be additional, a little under $400.

if you're a DIYer, the pulley install is actually pretty easy. Could save a few dollars by installing it yourself and then getting AAM to just do the tuning piece.
