Default [rebuild ] initial start up...got ?'s

We started up the car today . It started right up and idled ok at about 400rpm . [ may have to bump idle up due to cams ] . After the first start up , I put in a fuel map from dfw350z [ he has 550 injectors ] The car wouldnt start . So I put back in the original map and it started . My question is....Do you guys think that the ECU saw to big of a jump [ injector scaled back to much at one time ] and couldn't adjust ? Ive mad 3 other maps after I got home and each map scales the injectors back a little more each time . Plans are to run each map until the ECU adjusts to a 14.7 A/F , then make the next step .
My other ? is . How much vacuum do you guys see at idle ? We were adjusting the FPR to 50lb's and I noticed I was at -4 in. of vacuum , and I know it's not right . I cant remember what the vacuum was before the rebuild . I know I still have to go through things to check for leaks . But I want to know how much vacuum I should be seeing .
I havent got to drive it yet . There was a fuel leak in a fitting from the AAM return fuel system . It wasnt a connection we made , but from a fitting that is already put together from AAM .

I got the car back today. I scaled back the injectors in stages , allowing the ECU to adjust and then stepped it back another step. I still have maybe one more step backwards to get the injectors right . I plan on doing that once I get the idle bumped up at the dealer .Its running rich at 2000rpm and 1in. of vacuum , but I can tweak that later . Went for a 25 mile drive and the ECU adjusted great . I would still like to know what the vacuum should be at idle . If some one that has Nismo cams could take note of thier vacuum and let me know , I would be greatful .
Im real happy to have her back in the garage . I cant wait till Im able to open her up a little .

Boog,

It's about -21 for me with no load, car in park or neutral. In gear it's about -16Hg.

Good luck with the tuning!

I've parked my car for the winter, driving a 97 Qx4 for now. Gotta stick with the Infiniti's!

Thanks guys . Gspot..in FLorida !!!!!....you parked the car for the winter ? Seems like that would be the best time to drive it , as long as its not raining .

Had the idle bumped up today . I ended up with -6.5 and it goes up to about 9.5 at 1200 rpm

I moved to Northern Virginia at the end of last year. Good luck with your new motor!

Are you getting any error codes (SES light) since your rebuild because of the lower compression or cams or dose it pretty much run about stock?

No...the only check engine light I get is when I scale the injectors back each time . But Ive only got 100 miles on the car so far . I havent gone passed 1/4 throttle yet . Its going to be awhile before I can do a WOT pass .

good luck with your break-in. i'm trying to get those damn maps to you, but everytime they send them it says there is a virus and the tech guy is in europe tuning some cars. i'll get them to you so you can cross reference them to some others asap.

Im going to get about 500 miles on it . Then do some short runs to 5,000 rpm . Tune to that rpm . I'll wait till I get about 1,500 miles on it before I go to redline

so are you gonna just street tune it for the first 500 miles..the first dyno session will be after 500 miles?

do you determine the break in by oil consuption?

Im going to wait to put it on a Dyno . I can data log , so I'll tune the A/F my self , with plenty of timing being pulled . When I get it close I'll put it on a dyno

The weather was nice today [50 degree's ] , so I took the car out and got it dirty and put some miles on it . Did some adjusting on the injectors and the A/F .
A couple things I figured out . I had to back off the adjustment for the BOV .The cams reduced the vacuum enough that the BOV was closing and screwing with A/F at low rpm . So tuning is going to be a little harder than thought . And gettting the BOV adjusted right will be hard
The Nismo cams seem to be helping with the short little 1/3 throttle burst to 4,000 rpm . It seems very stout . They do make more noise...almost a diesel sound .
Im getting antsy , wanting to go WOT . I got 175 miles on it .
