Default turbo Exhaust Manifolds jet hot coated good or bad idea?

just wondering since getting normal headers jet hot coated seems to be a good idea, for a turbo would it be bad?

I'm guessing it'd trap heat in them which is then routed back into the engine?

coat the manifolds, the turbine housings, and the downpipes... or get some trick heat shield/wrap setup.

i sent my manifolds, turbine housings, and the downpipes out to be jetcoated a week and a half ago, they should be back here soon, my engine will begin to be assembled next week...just wanted to share!

I'd sooner coat a turbo setup than an NA setup anyday of the week...you would actually see gains on a turbo setup

Coat em. Keeps underhood temps down slightly, looks sic, protects the manifolds from corosion, and should assist in spool up and turo efficiency, but improving exhuast gas scavenging and velocity.

Even if they gave me no power gains, I would still get them done.

Default coating

If you have the choice get a "2000 degree" ceramic coating , should hold up better.

There is a jet hot 2000 that is good for 2400degrees.

don't bother with any of the silver coatings on the manifolds... they look nice when you pull them out of the box, but they get their shine from aluminum in the coating... with FI EGTs, you can kiss them goodbye (aluminum melts over 1200deg F)... in literally one day i have had all the aluminum vaporize leaving behind a dull flat gray crap color (and this was a Jet Hot coating that was big $$)... the satin black 2000 degree and 2400 degree coatings are the best... they maintain their apperance indefinitely... a little silicone spray can be used to deepen the blackness every now and then, almost like using armor-all on tires (i hate armor-all, i'm just providing an analogy -- zaino rules!!)... we always use black for any exhaust parts and silver for any intake parts... don't forget the turbo itself, the turbine housing should get black and the compressor can get silver...

^^^correct^^^ The one to get is the called Jet Coat 2000 which I mentioned above. Its not as shiny, but works for ultra high temp applications. It comes in matt grey, blue, or black.

I think the Sterling coat is their shiny coat, and it usually fades after a pretty short period of time....only good for abour 1300degrees
