Default 2005 oil pump costs less than older versions?

I would have thought it would cost more than a 2003, but it seems to be $25 cheaper.. all the rest of the parts are... anyone know why? I'm sure it wouldn't be a good idea to get that would it.... just go with my years pump...

i think all these different part numbers are just because they were built in a different manufactoring plant.

i would be curious to see the pump and compare it. oil pumps are one of many things you need to consider in a high HP build up. its not uncommon for oil pump failure in extreme build ups.

Would the oil pump really matter if your running 400RWHP?

if your engine is properly balanced and your not spinning the motor too high, the stock oil pump is probably just fine for 400rwhp. i never did take apart my old one to inspect it after abuse.

The new oil pump will probably have a greater pumping capacity to supply the extra oil now needed to opperate the exhaust VTC
sprockets & phasing solinoid.
I also believe that there is an increase in degrees that the inlet cam is now phased.

The new oil pump may be cheeper just because they are made somewhere else... but who really knows...

I do know that the new oil pump has to pump oil to the new oil cooler on the 2005 track edition... the new oil pump is only on the 05 track REV-UP motor...

hmm yeah I was trying to see if by chance the new oil pump might have been a little better because it was made to handle a car with an increased rev limit...

I'll probably end up just sticking with the one for my car..

The '05 Track has a new oil cooler?

Do you have any pictures or specs on this?

theres the website with the regular oil pump on the top and the 05 oil pump next one down.. thats all i know about it... its cheaper for some reason.. but was built to handle a car with more revs... might be good for people increaseing thier redline if everything fits right

Now I could be wrong, but I think this is what it is...

see the graphic below... see the item labeld Sec 213 = 21305...

From the diagram you would think it is a sandwhich plate to have send and recieve oil lines...

but... what I think it actually is, is a cooling plate that has Water hoses goin in and out of it. To Water Cool the oil passing through it. It is called an Oil Cooler Assembly in the Nissan Parts system, but seeing everything else that hooks up to it, it is now part of the coolant / water hose piping...

So it isnt an oil cooler in how we were all hopeing, but this just allows for the oil to pass through a cooler part before it is recirulated into the engine...

:-/

Every VQ35DE has this. It is an oil cooler, using coolant to cool the oil -- it also acts to heat up the engine more quickly after startup. Unfortunately, it's not an oil cooler in the sense that I was hoping -- i.e. air to oil radiator cooler.

what IM trying to figure out is why it is shown on the REV-UP engine but not for the other...

There is something different...
