Hopefully we will find out what is causing the issue one way or another and maybe provide some insight into the MAF. I know there are more guys who have cams and built motors. I would like to hear if anyone other than Richie and myself had similar issues.

Charles, are you running on your new motor yet? I thought it was back in the car, and if I remember correctly, you have cams. Any issues with your car?

The problem Im having is not so much with idle as with A/F at idle . Ive flashed for my 550 injectors and it still is not holding a good A/F at idle . It will stay at 14.7 for 20 or 30 seconds and then go lean and then recover for another 20 or 30 sec. and do it again . Ive hooked up the OBD to look at short and long term fuel trims and while they are good when the A/F is good they go bad when lean . Any one got an idea what I can look at or for to find the problem . I did injectors , cams , and return fuel system at the same time , so Im at a loss as to where to start looking

What are you using to control fuel? Only the TS flash, e-Manage, or other piggyback? If you go a little lean at idle, it is not a big deal. Probably up to 15.3 or so is not a big deal. As long as that after you accelerate it gets leaner to 14.7 or below, then you are fine. Can you go into more detail on the AF, rpm and fuel management.

Ts flashed for my 550 injectors . I had the same problem before the flash and although better , its still doing it . It goes lean for about 5 , 10 seconds and recovers . 16 to1...to....17 to1 and idle drops down a little when it does it .
I have the Vortech Split Second for fuel and timing control . The TS flash took care of the scaling of the injector and when its idling at 14.7 to 1 the trims look good so I know TS got them scale right.

Do you think the cams are causing the lean issue? Does it happen only at cold idle, warm idle or both?

No one else has had trouble with the cams by them selves . Colds idle no...but it dont take long to warm up ...then it starts . Some times it hard starting and I get a mutiple miss fire code . Does your timing hold steady at idle ? What is your advanced timing at Idle ? Mine will bounnces around a little from 14 to 17 degree's

booger,

It is slightly harder for me to start than before with those wild cams on as well... and I think with those cams, the car tends to go leaner though... after the tuning, although I said the idle was perfect, occasionally, I still have slight idle hunts in between the idle... I think it is the cams that changes the engine idle characteristics (A/F goes lean at idle)?!

cheers,

richie

My timing fluctuates at idle as well. I will actually look at trying to manipulate this over the next 2 weeks with the VPro to see if it helps. I will also let you know the timing advance when I hook it up to monitor it. I cannot remember right now.

I tried to advance the timing alittle . But the SS box that comes with the Vortech doesnt have that feature . If you bought a SS box from SS it would
