Default Emanage Ignition Harness

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the emanage ignition harness? Greddy claims that it will not work on our cars. I know some forum members are using it, however.

I see that this diagram and Greddy's manual contradict each other. The Greddy says the inputs are the white striped wires and this diagram shows the inputs as the black striped wires. Also, Greddy claims that I have to wire the cylinders per firing order per channel. Does anyone know who this Derek is? I would like to see how the system is working. I plan to hook this up before my J&S Safeguard. I know there is redundancy, but I get the tunability of the emanage and the safety of the safeguard.

I found this diagram on this site when my shop tried to call greddy and they would not give them support. My shoped mentioned to me that the instructions had some wires backward. I think the ones you mentioned.

Here are some old thread on wiring this harness.

Kind of off topic, but why is it only the E-Manage that fries coils when the key is left in the 'on' position, and not any other piggy back ignition retardation solution?

i.e. splitsecond, j&s, unichip

Just use John's(J&S) schematic. It's right on the money. You won't have to worrry about frying coils if that is what's firing the coils. That's the exact setup that's going on mine. I'm even doing a TS reflash. I'm building another engine so I have the J&S and emanage ignition harness to see how far I can push the stock engine. Mine is being done next week so I'll be able to comment on this much better then.

isn't the purpose of wiring in the diodes with the ignition harness to prevent frying the coils??? i have kept my key in the "on" position for several seconds, several times

I have keep mine in the on position for more than 30 seconds while resetting the ECU with the TS method....no problems yet...Knock on wood. I was told it had to be several minutes to fry the coils.

Yeah, that was it. Don't listen to the radio when the car is off (in the on position). A few people have fried their coils this way, only with the e-manage. This brings me back to my original question, why? (Yes they had the diodes installed)

The Split Second box intercepts the cam and crank sensor signals, so it doesn't interfere with the coil drive signals.

The J&S intercepts the coil drive signals, but passes the stock signals through to the coils, unless retard is needed. Software in the unit turns the coils off if no triggers are present.

I have read that the Greddy drivers are not able to completely turn off the coils. The diodes drop the output enough to turn them off.

Don't know about the stall condition. Maybe Greddy software designers forgot to turn off the coils.

Easy enough to check with a scope or voltmeter. Check each coil wire in turn: key on, note voltmeter, then quickly turn off the key. Hopefully, all coil drive signals would be zero volts in the stall condition.

John, So if I hook up the emanage and run it through your system last, then I should not have a coil issue, right? This is the setup that I am currently installing. Do I need the diodes for the emanage AND the diodes for the safeguard? I have been running the safeguard for a week now and it is working perfectly. I had spoke to you about possible problems. I found the only problem was me reading the schematic properly. Thanks for the offer of coming to Burbank and help out.

Mr. BadMonkey:

I would try installing the emanage between the ECU and the J&S.

You shouldn't need diodes on the emanage, but leave them on the J&S if it's an earlier unit (pre 8/04).

Unless the emanage has been preset for 350z, you might have to open it up and move the internal switches and jumpers.

ACP tried to make the two units work together, without success. Let me know if you have trouble, and I might make the trip to Burbank after all.
