Default More Turbonetics Info (Cat Version Info)

Hey all just talked to Brad at Turbonetics...There have been a lot of questions in regards to the cat version of the kit. Well the cat version of the downpipe CAN be ordered by itself for those who got the base kit and are interested in switching when its time to smog. The part number is 21201 and is available now.
Also the G kit is still being R&D. Expect some install pics and numbers in the next week. Any more questions let me know. Oh for the 05s there is a car enroute to Turbonetics (05 flavor) to have the kit installed. Should't be long after that.

PS: Forgot about the info for the 5AT. The crossover pipe for the kit is in production now. The 5AT kit should be available in a couple weeks.

Thanks for the updates MIA, greatly appreciated. Any word yet on how close the cat version will be to passing smog? I remember Brad saying that he wasn't sure on that yet.

Take it easy and tahnks again.

No I didn't get that info sorry. I will ask although I'm not sure if Turbonetics has spun it for the sniffer yet. If I can get my hands on one I'm sure I could bolt it up real quick and hit my buddies smog machine though.

Correction I talked to Brad and he thinks it should pass the sniffer fine. I am going to try and get my hands on one in the next week or two and go hit my buddies sniffer and see what I get.

Glad to hear Turbonetics is doing alot of R&D on their new stuff. Their kit sounds the best of all FI applications I've heard. You know they'll have an upgrade path in the future. We need some more vids MIAPLAYA. The audio in your first couple clips doesn't do the kit justice.

keep us updated on the G35 kit - I'm interested to see how the intake design and the airflow problems are addressed (ie dual inlets to vent air to intercooler, etc) - can't wait to see some finalized pics!

Any before/after dyno of the non-cat and cat version?

Im thinking about putting a cat on mine...it stinks too much.

No before and after numbers yet...The cat downipe is $300 for the cat already welded onto the downpipe and ready to bolt up...

I'm very curious about the details as well. I know a lot of people ***** about CARB, but the fact is, some states are actually even more strict. Sure, we don't have to deal with the stupidity of only installing exempt products, but we have to smog test *every* year. Anything without a cat is just too much of a pain for most of us.

The boost level and hp/tq numbers for the system with the cat would be great info.

MIAPLAYA ... I think I know the answer to this question before I ask it. But here goes:
1-Will my Kinetic Hi Flo cats work with the TN Cat version downpipe???
2-Also, is the Cat Version quieter than the base version?

No the Turbonetics kit replaces the stock cat locations with a crossover pipe. The cat version of the kit places a cat on the turbo downpipe (which is a single pipe that takes the place of the stock y pipe). As for quiet it should be a little bit quieter with it. I do have plans to do some testing with this. I have the cat downpipe at my house right now and am setting up time to roll it on the emissions dyno to see if it will pass. Also I will be trying to get to a dyno to get some power numbers with and without...

OK I just talked to Mossy Performance who also has a Turbonetics kit on their Z. I am going to take the cat downpipe to them this week. They will get it on their car and roll for the emissions dyno sometime next week and I'll try to get some video of it. They also have some dyno time set up at a Dynapack dyno to get numbers with and without as well as some numbers before and after the Motordyne IsoThermal Plenum spacer. SO in the next week I should have a lot more info. I'll post pics of the pipe tonight for you guys.

Emissions testing for this system need does need to be conducted. For any states such as Arizona using the IM 240 test it is more complicated and difficult to pass than just an idle test. During the IM 240 test, the subject test vehicle is driven on the dynamometer for a period of 240 seconds (4 minutes) at speeds varying between zero MPH and 57.6 MPH.
To be meaningful for these states actual IM 240 results are needed. Many people myself included cannot afford to install a system that cannot pass local emissions testing.
