Default harldy any boost and loud noise! HELP!

I took a friend of mine for a ride yesterday and noitced when i got in to boost it was REALLY loud. I thought "**** i have an exhaust leak". By the time i got back to my house and couldn't get full boost any more (5.6psi) the highest i could get was only like 3.9 psi. I also notice the BOV is not sounding like it used to, even a 0psi at 0 vaccum the BOV would sound now it doesn't. In 2ed gear its so loud now it sounds like a supra with a open loop Wastegate. 3ed gear it sounds more like a MAJOR leak maybe in one of the cuplings or something. Its pissing me off, before everything worked fine, boost to normal level no problem. Kind sounds like its coming from underneath the car maybe. Anyone ever had this problem? Its a Greddy kit.

gunna have to check all your piping for leaks. from what you are describing it should be pretty easy to find.

MAN!!! DARRRNNNNIITT! i'm just so pissed i spent an hour on what i thought was the leak. The passenger side turbo look like the compersor coupling to intercooler pipe was loose. I tightened the clamps down and nothing got better, man it was hard trying to get to those things. A vaccum line wouldn't produce that kind of noise would it? No way.. I mean its loud. Any ideas?

Definetly sounds like a boost leak somewhere, most like a coupling as mentioned.

A vacum leak would sound at all time even idle, a boost leak would sound when boosting and would keep you from building boost.

I've heard more than one person say they popped a coupling at the intercooler and that their car was quite loud as a result...Just a thought.

yea i check all clamps, man, i must say the shop that installed this kit didn;t do the best job... ALL of the clamps where only on there hand tight, but i did trace it down I THINK to the intake housing -to- intercooler pipe, the one thats about impossible to get to. I guess i'm going have to go back and take a bunch of stuf of to get to and try to push them in to the cupling better. And one else know an easy way to get to it?? thanks for the replys.

What plenum are you running? I would check around the throttle body and plenum for leaks.

The other day, I found a large hole in my plenum...oops.

My money is on the pipe just before the maf. That thing is pain because as the engine torques that pipe tends to twist.

ya unfortunately you need to pull the front bumper to get to it. or you may be able to get at it from below if you remove the under motor plastic. good luck!
