hmm.. interesting. I have the zeitronix and saw 700C when cruising.. never really hit 800 unless I was running full throttle for an extrended amount of time.. and that is with the G35 bumper. Without water injection my EGT's went up an average of 50C-100C.

I'll have direct airflow to the intercooler now with a different bumper.. I'll post what I see when I get the car back.

i looked at some of my datalogs and im hitting about 850 celcius which is about 1600 farenheit, and my probe is bout 16 inches away. should i be worried, my car has a perfect af ratio. 12s, then 10-11 under boost.

I dont know squat about the effects of high EGT's . But being down line and 1562F [ 850C ] I would be worried . At least I would find out for sure from some one than knows

According to some tuners I talked to, up to 1600F is relatively safe. Not more than that however.

On very hard accel I hit 800-850C pretty commonly, since i got the gauge installed ( set-up in sig) I have hit 890C 3 times.
all 3 were racing someone from a dig to approx 120 mph.

700C is normal high speed cruisng temp for me, very easy drinving like gentle 45 mph is 500C, elevated hiway driving low 700's to just under 800C.

I have not measured my location of thermocoupler, its were AAM put it in, i will go out and check distance sometime here.

I am appreciative for any insightfull comments on my numbers..

(hmm seem pretty similiar to original poster)

Fred..

Guys, keep them below 900C. I like to make sure that the egts are no higher than 880C under heavy load (4th gear, uphill). Those are the best situations to take an egt sample to make sure the car is working under a reasonable degree of load.

So for those who are hitting 850C in 4th gear, you look pretty good. For the guy that hit 890C 3 times, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Try not to peg the egts on the AFR either. Ignition timing will effect egts a great deal as well.

Lastly, for the guys mounted downstream or post turbo, beware. EGT is important because it measures the temperature of the exhaust gasses exiting the combustion chamber. Taking measurements elsewhere or further away from said combustion chamber makes the reading almost a total waste. 2 - 3 inches from what is your hottest cylinder is the best spot. The hottest cylinder will be the one that gets the most air.

I consistently run mid to high 1400's when im just crusing under light load (<1 psi boost) say up a hill at 3500-4000 rpm. Ive been as high as 1550 under full boost. As everyone else as stated postiton of sensor plays a big part. What I think may also be an important fact is the brand of egt probe and gauge. I dont know if one or two companies make the sensors or not. Im using an autometer (inexpensive) gauge/probe. It would be interesting to swap out mine with say a defi egt setup and see if there were any differences.

The EGTs I am seeing are with a Defi D gauge and probe. Just an FYI.

Okay...did my first set of data logs on the Zeitronix and I am hitting 900C at redline on my onramp pushes. (Peak of 917 on on eof my runs = 1682 F). This was on the second of 4 back to back on ramp pushes with about 5 minutes in between runs). I'm mostly between 750-850 on my normal runs.

Something is wrong don't ya think?

Anybody want to see them? I was so worried about A/F, now I have to watch this too....uggghh
