Default 11 psi on Turbonetic's kit?

From my understanding, the Tnetic's kit push's 10 psi, correct? Reason I ask is my friend finished his install yesterday and took her out today and is consistently hitting 11 psi at around 7K rpm.

Anyone have any input as to which is the correct boost?

The stock reflash is for 8-8.5 psi.

What other mods does he have?
Is he hitting 11psi or spiking to 11psi?

Along with what Taurran has said, how does your friend hit 7,000 RPM?

Kit is supposed to be 8psi out of the box. Maybe something is foul with the boost gauge

Sorry, didn't mean 7K. I thinking of something else and typing another. It peaks at 11 psi. I asked him if he thought the boost gague was not reading correct (first thing I thought of) and he said he believes he has it hooked up right.

Only other mod is Tanabe cat-back. Could it be something w/ the wastegate that went array whilest installing the kit?

How much PSI can the stock internal engine safely run?

Definitely verify the boost gauge is reading 20 hg of vacuum at idle to make sure that it is right. The kit should make no more then 9 PSI....8-8.5 is the standard pressure seen. Some see a little higher dpending on exhaust system, etc...

I will get him to check the vac and see where it is reading. He took it out a few mins ago and he hears a knocking sound now...it is at idle and gets faster as the rpm's go up. He is going to double check everything to make sure nothing is vibrating (pipes, etc.). Hopefully it isn't engine knock...I don't think it is though. Time will tell.

Should you put more than 5 qts of oil in the car? Would it need more to compensate for the turbo and lines?

He was getting a little over 20 HG of vac. FYI. He said it sounds as if it is around the center to back of the engine.

You should be getting 20 HG of vacuum even. I mean dead on...how much less/more vacuum is he getting at idle? Exact number would help. I put in 5 qts of oil myself. Exactly 5...Recommended is 4 1/2 with oil changes. As for the sound could be a pipe contacting the chasis or frame....

He said he gets 25 HG of vac. He put in 5, but i wasn't sure if he should put more in w/ the turbo (I didn't help install the kit, so I don't know how long the hoses are).

Where do you have your boost gauge's source?

At the plenum...make sure his is there too. He should have one signal line going from the open port on the plenum to the upper port of the BOV and teed to the boost gauge and one line going from the compressor fitting to the lower port on the wastegate.
