Default Emanage Ultimate Qs

I've got a question or two about wiring the EU.

A) Injector grounds?

The EU has a specific wire to ground the injectors... and I don't find a ground specificaly for injectors on the harness. I've got ECM ground. TP ground, and O2 grounds... but no I/J ground. Wire it to the ECM ground???

B) Knock/Air Temp/Water Temp?

The EU has inputs for Water Temp, Intake Temp, and 2 Knock sensors. HOWEVER they are exclusive. Should I use the temps, or the knocks? Or can I hook up some aftermarket temps, and use the knocks etc...

Or if I wire it 1 and 1 what temp should I use? And what Knock should I tap?

Thanks in advance!

I can't remember the injector ground wire.

The temps can be hooked up in conjunction with the knock sensor. I hooked up the intake temp and the knock sensor to a 3 way rocker switch. It has 3 leads one for each wire, then an output to the eu. Then you can use either temp or knock. The knock sensor wire is pin #15 out of the ecu. It is a non-resonant type sensor with no set frequency.

also: any of you ever have the issue of the rpm signal and timing signal drop rapidly and then jump back up again on the datalogging option of the ultimate?,,,
i get a spike drop at 5500rpm and 5800rpm..it drops in a space of maybe 50rpm..a very quick deviation...at first i thought possible knock,.,,but then the rpm signal should stay consistant..plus i was running 101octane with conservative timing...so i highly doubt the knock theory
i assume it is slightly misfiring? i checked the plugs, slight white deposit on the tips, nothing too abnormal..the gap is set at .035,.....any ideas? no CES light/no code...
no noticeable loss in power, but then again, it only occurs at an interval of 50rpm at most...

sorry to highjack..well this is on topic, this is an e-manage ultimate question!

Injector ground can be wired to any of the ECM grounds. Hope that helps.

The knock question was already answered.

How much of a drop is it? Do you feel the decrease? Does it happen on every run? It might just be a logging problem.

Rocker switch... Genius... Pure Genius.

It's always the simple fixes I miss.

I figured I'd just use ECM ground...

I wonder if that RPM issue is similar to what APS was seeing with the POS and thats why they went with the sheilded wire?

350ZDCKalb has a shielded wire.

Sharif,
Is there a certain way to know A/F, as it pertains to volts? I hooked up the A/F input to my Innovate analog out, 0-5 volts. In my datalogger, I see voltage. Is there a way to convert the volts to A/F? Or do I need to do math? When I try the targeting, will I tell it volts or A/F?

You can set the voltage to AF conversion with the EU.

On the innovate gauges, the voltage AF conversion is as follows.
7.35 to 22.39 AFR is 0-5V

It should display with AF in the logger. As long as the setting is correct when you defined the values for the AF sensor on the EU software setup tabs.

The LM has software to configure the volts and the A/F range it represents.

We set my brothers to 0-5v and set the range from 9.00 - 20.01 (The .01 was added by innovate for some reason.)

Get the software here...

http://tinyurl.com/dzojs

I would assume its the same for the LC1

Then we set the EU to match on the following tab...

Thanks guys. I was putting 0 and 5 in the boxes, thinking it needed the voltage. I see now.

no noticeable loss in power...and it does not happen on every run, but most (only at higher rpm--even did it when i went 40% throttle, no boost to 6000rpms--im leaning toward a signal being dropped for whatever reason)
