its funny you say that.. because i can drive my FWD faster in corners than alot of you fan boy racers with AWD or RWD.. so what now?

 

You can't honestly tell me any of the new high hp FWD Nissan cars are very fun to drive, espically compared to say older examples. Would anyone admit an 05 or 06 maxima is more fun to drive then an older maxima which was way better balanced, overall.

Simply too much HP going to the front wheels. Even Acura wouldn't try to sell a FWD lux car with 300 hp, so they opted with AWD.

 

You have quite an attitude, maybe you are a better driver then "those" fanboys. Congrats. Racing generally all boils down to driver ability anyway.

I'll give this to you in the Speedvision challenge the FWD contenders have no problems keeping up with the RWD counterparts.

That is just one series. You don't see FWD competiting hardly anywhere else. Everyone knows FWD isn't optimal for performance

 

i love how you guys always say.. torque steer this.. can't launch that.. I wish i could dig up the video of hal's 550 fwhp maxima out launching a whole bunch of RWD cars at the drag strip.

Please stop bashing the guy. I'd like to learn more about what he did, and the results. For instance, there is an appreciable difference in smoothness in my old 97 Maxima and my 2003 Altima. The VQ35 felt agricultural in comparison. Personally, I'd always wondered why that was.

My point is, just because a particular individual doesn't see the value of something, doesn't mean you need to bash soemone who's done something different. Some of us come here to learn things.

 

It's good for drag too. I added a JDM variable manifold to my vq30de and gained a good amount of HP over 5000rpm. I have it set to open at 5100 and redline was 7100rpms. The car kept accelerating about to about 6800rpm when it used to fall flat on its face after 5500.

 

If you can't drive. I and a handful of others have gotten 1.7 60 foots out of our "FWD boats". Most Z's can't do better than that.

 

I agree. The older VQs are smoother. That is one of my gripes with the new engine.



Doug - I am not going to argue with you about FWD vs RWD. If you actually consider FWD a worthy contender in terms of overall performance vs RWD, well there won't be anything I can tell you to change your mind, obviously you are delusional.

I'll tell you what when all the major racing series opt to go FWD because it's better, then I'll agree with you.

 

Why don't you and all your FWD fans submit a letter to all the car makes demanding they put FWD on all their performance cars, obviously there was something they missed that you haven't.

Put it like this, I've seen a product of what Tilley produced at a track in upstate New York a few months ago. The weather conditions (humid as fark)were terrible and the track wasn't even prepped. The 95/96 Maxima he dropped a 3.5 liter into was running 13.6's that night. That's a 12 second car in the right conditions. FWD, the guys knows what he's doing.

 

my actual point to you is.. just because you don't see the value in FWD doesn't automatically make FWD garbage..

my maxima has JIC Coilovers, front and rear Strut and front and rear sway bars, 18" wheels w/ Potenza SO3's.. does it handle anywhere close to my Z with stock suspension and Pilot Sports? not a effing chance.. however i am not going to jump up and say FWD is garbage or a POS, because for what its worth.. it can actually do a little something.. now my Z can't hold a candle to my bike in handling

 

You guys should research the things they do with Zs in japan, I seen so many Japanese z33s with 3.2s hmmmmm evidently there is a reason for this.

Look, the arguement about FWD vs. RWD means NOTHING in this discussion. Tilley brought you guys some engine tuning info he thought you would appreciate, and you people are busting his ***** because he did it in a Maxima? WTF?!

The benefits are the same no matter whether it's in a VQ30 MAxima, VQ35 Maxima, or a VQ35 350Z/G35.

pull your heads out of your collective "RWD is better so FWD people are stupid" asses and appreciate the contributions for what they are, not what car they came out of.
