Exclamation Need help lauching my car....How can I lower my 60' times????

I need some help launching any advice, my upgrades include pole setter 275/35/18 rears with light weight wheels and injen ses exhaust with kinetix high flows. As of now my best time has been 9.223 1/8 at 79 mph. 60' time of 2.4 . No matter what I do, I spin in first, and with my turbonetics being installed any advice would help.

Get adjustable coilovers if you don't have them so you can make the rear soft so the car can squat.
Fix your camber so you are using most of the tire.
Then get some dr's and run them from 20-15psi depending on how your traction is doing. Rev and hold it at 4500-5500 and slip the clutch slowly.

I bought some Kazera 18's and mounted 265/45/18's on there and my best 60ft was 1.74

I also have the kazera wheels, so some slip the clutch, do you think my stock clutch may have been an issue, I just upgraded to jwt clutch/flywheel and hopefully after 500 miles or so can give it a shot.

Question

Hey on a different note, which cam are you using and how much to install that thing. Any significant power increase, when I put my turbo on in a week or so, I was considering new cams.

Here's how to lower your 60' times. Get a car meant for drag racing !!!! Not a sports car.

Just the regular Jwt S1 cam. I can tell the difference running against another Z with TT because my 3rd and 4th pull will be more noticeable on top. Installation is a biatch for our cams but can be pulled off from 10-14hrs I believe. I like the idle, it sounds a lil more beefy. Plus for higher hp you'll need cams or should have them at least.

Craig, can you describe your launch for us? Most people can get a 2.4 60ft time just by gently rolling out of the gate slowly at like 2000rpm, with nothing fancy.

How is it true? Just because the guy wants advice on launching better people are gonna tell them to get a drag car? WTF is that? I Dont see people saying "hey get an Evo or STI if you wanna play with Turbo's" to other Z owners. And like 1/2 these people adding FI are doing it for "sports cars" reasons(ie handling-faster overall road course times), most of the FI guys dont/cant even track their cars around a road course hard without thinking they might overheat or blow up, so adding FI to their sports cars seems dumb in that sense doesnt it? If the guy wants advice on something, give it to him, thats why we are all here.

I would say, he coulda searched this topic, its been beating to death....

BTW Sharif coming off idle I Can get 2.1 60ft times consistent-just powering out of the hole, so if your rolling off at 2000rpm's getting 2.4's you must not be in a Z.

Alberto, I was just making the point as an example, becuase this person is getting 2.4 times trying every possible technique. 2.2-2.4 should be doable without even launching the car. Sorry if that confused anyone.

Hey man i would definately get some DR's. Do a really nice burnout, and it should dead hook, if you have a good clutch in the car, and a overall good drivetrain(not sure with the 350z, i know the supras drivetrain holds up great), hold it at like 5500-6000 and quickly slip the clutch...dont dump it, just quickly slip it. I went a 1.8 60' with my supra with a stock auto n stall on DR's, so there is definately no reason u should be able to bring ur 60' down by a good 3-4 tenths!

Again im relatively new to these cars so if im wrong with nething let me know!

if that would be true I do not think that there would be a pro 350Z running mid 6 seconds in the 1/4 on a VQ motor....

The Z is a GREAT Drag car

To explain myself in a little greater detail, I am coming from a awd supercharged automatic 4runner into the 350z, my reaction times are great, but out of the hole I simply spin and spin. Now with that said, I have noticed that no one at that track has great 60' times, the slipping of the clutch, I can't wait to try (I didn't even know what that was). I race a lot at Brainerd in Tennessee and the dragsters have threatned to leave the track entirely if track conditions weren't improved, honestly I am hoping that may be the reason I suck as bad as I do. Anyway, in regards to buying a drag car, wtf is that all about, did you start running when you were born, just learning here buddy!

I have Nitto 555R Drag Radials on 18" Enkei PK6 Rims 9.5 " wide in rear and the 5AT Tranny with the Stillen Stage III and my 60fts are never more than 1.75. HAHAHAHA Kinda takes all the skill out with the 5AT though. Just Stall and Launch!
Also, a poorly prepped Track can increase your 60fts DRASTICALLY! You should walk out on the launch pad and make sure your shoes are sticky with the pavement or you can plan to have a BAD night!

I think I remember reading that getting a tire with a little more sidewall will allow it to flex instead of just spin.
