yeah, its the roots type.....the packaging alone doesnt really make it ideal for the Z...or most VQ's in general..but thats also a personal opinion

OK...here we go again!!!
I'm driving down the 60 fwy EB, on my way back from running some errands. Not driving hard at all...and what do I hear "snap, ting...ting..." so I look out my rear view to see a bolt fly out from under my car....Of course, so many things ran thru my mind, including "OK, who is gonna rebuild my motor..."
Gauges reading vaccuum all way, and of course running lean...hmmm, my next thot was the SC belt snapped and took the idler pulley with it...
Get the car home, and open up to find my SC belt shredded, but not snapped, and accessory belt looped behind the idler pulley which is 1/2 way into my fan shroud!!! Talk about luck!!! The idler pulley bolt snapped and made a mess out of my engine bay...
Well, I got my camera out and took a bunch of pix...and got on the phone..1st to the company that I bought it from...no answer...and they din't get back to me right away...no worries...I called SP Engineering...again to the RESCUE!!! well, not right away, but within about 30 mins they contacted me back and BAM...the ball got rollin'!!!! I'm thinkin' since I installed the system myself, HKS is not gonna cover any of this...of course thinking the worst and hoping for the best.... NOPE!!! by days end I had the parts that came off (both belts and the idler pulley and assembly)...At this point, having dealt with SP yesterday, and feeling of satisfaction that I left their shop with made me realize that no matter what, if they warrantied or I had to pay...I know the best was done on my behalf...KUDOS guys....
They shipped the stuff to HKS immediately and HKS is gonna return new parts and they're covering my fan shroud...
I take back any and all ill comments made or thot about HKS...between the 2 of them..my ride will be up and running real soon...

If you don't know who to go to with install, tuning...or just to ask...call SP...they will take care of you! And HKS is still and always be quality!

To all the guys at SP-Engineering ...thanks for all the customer support, which is almost un-heard of these days.
HKS, thanks for living up to the reputation that has renowned around the world...

1. HKS is of now help, if you call them direct. They will refer you to a pro-dealer.
2. HKS has "discontinued" the ROTREX SC, and is switching to Eaton SC-unit. Directly from HKS-Pro Dealer.
3. Finally, got my SC looked at...by SP-Engineering. It took a little bit, to get in to see them, but ultimately a great choice for tuning. They did 10 runs...for the amt of work they did, a time to re-write the HKS maps...great, very reasonable in terms of $$, and Alex (the Owner), just wanted to make it right...stayed after hours to make sure!!!
1st Run: see pic (273 @ 5200rpm)
last RUN: see pic

they figured out that the additional injectors were not running properly, after fixing this problem, they tuned my car and ultimately, I drove away with a max HP of 335RWHP and 302ft.lbs of torque! WOW!!!
Only other mod I have is the KJR pulley.

I want to thank you all for all your input and help.

SP is great group of guys...talk to Mark, if you want to have your stuff done by them..they mos def take care of you!! K-gotta go drive now....c-ya ..

so you removed the spacer? why?
my kit is running a bit lean with the spacer, and i'm thinking about calling mark at sp to see if they can tune it for me.

the discontinuation rumors about the HKS rotrex is appearing in multiple threads now. I know I asked you about the truth in this in another thread, however, looking at growing information or misinformation, can you elaborate on what hks has planned for this kit? an upgrade? or as kakiller posted those TAS pictures, is another hks blower in the works?

reason I ask is I was about to purchase the current kit but if something new +/- better is in the works, I may just wait.

thanks again

ZBOY:I took the spacer off a while back, due to the "lean" condition I was experiencing. Thinking this may have attributed to the condition, I removed it but only started running leaner a little leaner.
For now I will leave it off, and when/if I decide to go for more power I will put it on with headers and HF cats and the like. I am very happy with the power I am making now, and wanted to have a good bang for the buck vehicle. In the past I have gone all out only to be tinkering, and constantly tuning and adjusting this and that... I'm older and don't have the time and patience that I once had...so for now ... I'm content with my set up.

Yes, Call Mark...if have talked to him before then u know he will be helpful... He's a good guy, just like all the other guys over there.. They will take the time to do it right...They must have done 10-12 dyno runs to get the numbers RIGHT!

thanx, alex. i'm like you...i want a no-fuss, set-and-forget setup, and the hks has been just that. so long as i'm not "on it" all the time, there have been no problems with the spacer. the only time i hear slight pinging is when i go wot on cold days. also, thanks for the report about sp. its good to know there's someone around who knows what they're doing with this kit.
you must be having so much fun now that your kit is operating properly. be careful out there.
