I guess I fall into the Gman category, started with the Nismo exhaust from the dealer, then wheels and here we are...
So far I am $48k in for parts/ $15k labor, shipping, paint etc. This is not counting building the engine yet, that is another $8k in parts and $7k in labor, porting, polishing, grinding, balancing, blueprinting, pressure testing, redecking, cryo treating, heat treating and shipping the engine between shops. (I am still working down this road, takes some time to do it right....
)
So all totaled, $56k parts + $22k labor = one Unique KICK *** CAR
Definitely not for everyman, but it has been an interesting ride so far (with a number of frustrations built in just to make sure you are one your toes, ever vigilant and above all patient)

Funny thing is when I bought the car I told myself I was going to change anything except add an amp and sub woofer to the OEM radio. One thing led to another.
My 300ZX started out as just wanting to get to stage 5 (no expensive mods and making near 400rwhp) with some rims and a stereo. Total cost to that point = roughly $10K. $25K after that I swear I started shredding reciepts so that maybe it didn't really happen.
I was incredibly lucky though to find a guy to pay $30K for the car. It was exactly what he wanted. No one else would have ever paid that price again so I just took it. Now my dumba$$ wants back in. There may be something wrong with us. Come to think of it, I probably still lost about $15K in the deal with the price of the car but that 3 years with that car were absolutely priceless. It wasn't like the 350Z. You could beat the hell out of that 300ZX and it would never whine or cry. It was a true beast.

Coilovers = $2K (with EDFC)
Total = $25K
No body kit or install for suspension. Add $500 for suspenion install. Add at least $2K for a decent full bodykit. Add $2500 for paint and install. I would do BBK so add near $5K with install. If you are into audio then figure in another $5K. New total = $40K

This is what i've found through my research:
Greddy TT Kit with intercooler (350zonline.com) $5700
Forged rods, pistons, ARP kit, gaskets(forgedinternals.com) $3000
Greddy Type RS blow off valve (evasivemotorsports.com) $165
Greddy Profec B-Spec II (racingworks.com) $300
Greddy Oil Catch Can (forgedinternals.com) $100
RC engineering 550cc injectors (evasivemotorsports.com) $500
Walbro 255 fuel pump (forgedinternals.com) $95
Driveshaftshop 500hp drive shaft (forgedinternals.com) $780
Assorted defi gauges (egauges.com) $600
ACT clutch (350zonline.com) $500
Koyo Radiator (performancenissanparts.com) $400
Greddy Evo 2 exhaust (350zonline.com) $910
Volk SF Challenge 19" with tyres (350zonline.com) $3350
HKS Hipermax RS coilovers (evasivemotorsports.com) $1650
Hotchkis sway bar kit (350zmotorsports.com) $290
Rotora 14" big brake upgrade front and back(350zonline.com) $3800
Full amuse bodykit (bulletproofautomotive.com) $4000
TOTAL $26140
This will address pretty much everything including brakes. You could get much cheaper bodykits, but i think this kit looks awesome, so you could get this total down to about 25000. Like i said before, this is without labour and install.

I couldn't agree more, you could throw as much money as you like and keep spending more and more. Its like a bottomless pit. But the numbers i suggested are just for a basic start point for about 450whp. I've done a lot of work with cars and spraying, so i would do all the work myself, as i also have all the tools to do it. It would just be the motor that i would have to pay somebody else to do. It would be a bit of a headache, but it's something i would do over time, not overnight. Ultimately i want people to **** their pants when they se my grill in there rear view mirror

IMPORTANT: At a budget you can afford. We also have in-house financing if you might need that as well.
Warmly
