Default What Tuning Blew Your Motor

For all of you that blew your motor with tuning OTHER than the stock reflash your FI kit came with...
ie. UTEC, Greddy Emanange, AAM, Technosquare, etc

Im assuming that if you blew your motor with the stock reflash, then something other than tuning was at fault, or the problem has been updated.

So if you are running something custom and you blew your motor, vote....

this is really a vague question as there are many factors at play which wouldnt be a result in tuning and many inexperianced users

Its the most info your going to get out of people without 150 individual stories about what happened and went wrong. Most people dont even know what went wrong, so the only variable that can be polled and is constant is the tuning tools...

Of course the tuner makes all the difference in the world, but we cant possibly poll that, im very interested in seeing if anyone had a blown a motor with UTEC or a reflash.

Dunno about UTEC, but the data is not difficult to locate regarding reflashes and 'incidentally ported' motors

This post is irrelevant. It has to do with the tune its self, not the electronics that execute it.

uh huh, so what about this poll makes sense to you? Trying to blame a blown motor on a particular form of management when it's 99.9999% unlikely that the management itself was the cause of the blown motor, whereas it's 99.99999999999% likely it was the tune or something else?

Thanks for an irrelevant poll!

+1 on this being a stupid poll...

How do you blame the EMS when a car dies due to low oil, or over reving, or a bad tune, bad gas, etc???

Its really not totally irrelevant...
Its actually a better poll than the which kit blew your motor..
Tell me who else will tune a car besides technosquare with a technosquare reflash?
And its not like the person cant put who tuned their car, etc..

I dont believe that motors blow from bad gas, give me a break...
So far it looks as if greddy emanage has the lead, which isnt surprising because its only a piggyback

AAM just tuned a vortech to 460whp, and im curious to see if there has ever been a blown motor, because apparently they have many at 500whp. I think its amazing that AAM can tune to 500whp.

Here, Ill add this to help with your "its irrelevant"...if you blew your motor cuz your a dumbass and put 87 octane in your 400whp Z, or you reved to high than please dont vote

Ummmm emanage is tuned and or installed incorrectly i feel bad for the emanage b/c most could be user error and not konwing what was a good tune out of the box. when 350z turbokits first came out everyone was blowing motors. That is not the case now. there are more FI Zs with successfull tunes lasting the abuse of its drivers.

Till this day i drive in peoples cars that supposebly know how to pay attention to signs of bad things happening but yet cant distinguish what detonation sound is or think something horrible is supposed to happen prior to it

no, it's not better....it's not worse either. That kit thread was irrelevant too. The greddy kit got a bad name to begin with because douches didn't know how to tune stuff properly.

Once again, this poll is irrelevant because it does not detail what specific cause from the management option blew the motor.

Something more relevant would be "Which management has fried your coil packs? " As that can be directly attributed to the management causing something to fail, unlike your poll.

Hate to break it to you, but it's too late. Take a look at the people who voted.

And the things you mentioned do not mean the people who blew their engines were "dumbasses." All you have to do is miss a shift to over rev... everyone has done it before. And how if it your fault if the 93 octane you bought is really 91.5?

You can't say that AT ALL. Say I'll run a reflash, but my engine blew due to overboosting because some hoses disconnected, or my plugs fouled which caused detonation, or oil starvation and etc... there is no basis with this poll. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING CAN GO WRONG.

Utec is a piggyback, how come the numbers aren't higher?
