I would agree with you if Stillen didn't put a waaaay undersized supercharger on their VQ35 kits. With methanol injection and everything they have a hard time breaking 350whp. I find it funny that you are knocking the heat that the TN kit makes while your roots blower is blowing hot air at anything past 8psi. The TN kit creates more heat because that is the by-product of horsepower. Their stock kit on stock exhaust makes more power than any Stillen supercharger I've seen.

I have seen the turbonetics kit and would not think of using that kit. I have seen the heat that the kit generates. If you are building your car for real hard driving the car wont last very long with the tubonetics single turbo. The single turbo kit is basically just a good show kit. If you want track the car then the stillen supercharger is a great option. I know from experience.

I could see this debate brewing as soon as I read the above post. Think positive people, we got many SC and turbo kit options so there is something for everyone.

LOL ok Mr. 1 post. err, 2 when you reply to this...oh and my "show kit" and many other people here with "show kits" will "show" you what a real power adder should do. And we'll spank you around the track...btw, our bad for hackin your thread, hope **** works out for ya!

Yup my car sucks My car is SO unreliable in fact that three mag editors romped on it back to back to back for the turbo shootout but it never failed. SOOOO crappy in fact that after hot lapping for 35 minutes at Streets of Willow for the MPG a Turbonetics car was STILL pulling strong enough to lose the back end on damn near every turn and do a 2 minute burn out session. Matter of fact the heat is SOOOO bad that even when the host of Import Tuner Tv got in the car at the end of the day after several hours of track time he was still impressed by its power delivery. Yeah its a "show" kit alright. I can't remember how bad I gang raped a Stillen SC Z by but it was enough that the owner pulled off the freeway 5 exits past his intended one and asked me if I was running twins a 15 PSI to kill him that bad. Face it, the roots blower in that kit is decent for off the line tq but in the midrange and top end its not going to even be fair against a turbo car. Even my "show" only Turbonetics kit.
you're soo right...I don't know how many times I have to answer the question why Stillen.... ....or why not TT

1. I would never want to deal with tuning nor engine built...etc (headaches of TT). My mechanical skills are BELOW avarage so seems like Stillen kit is the only option (...and yeah...f**k the hood) plug & play AND no blown engine yet...not sure of how many blown TN outthere
2. I was told by 2 installers (FI experts on Z/G in bay area) when I came for FI...base on my need, they recommended SC over TT
3. Avarage cost for SC 15K~20K vs TT 25K~30K (I don't know this but again was told by the FI experts)
4.1. I don't live my life on 1/4 or highway racing (I've been running the SC for over 4 months and probably did 120~130mph twice)...but if I find myself interested in tracking/racing...I still would NOT do Turbonetics on the Z/G...haha...I would get a civic and mod the $hit out of it to spank those Turbonetics big boys

Last and will be least that I know that I can change lanes faster than any turbo guys in city driving (where most 80% of my driving) & probaly spank your POWER Turbonetics in the city...def in LA & Bay Area (where I live )

How many Stillen cars have blown up motors and how many turbo cars have blown motors? Who gives a *** what HP or times you put down if your kit destroys your motor?

Being that the Stillen is boost limited by the pulley and even with all the bells and whistles they are barely mustering 350 HP I'm not surprised no one has any damaged motor. They are barely at a point where the power is going to do any damage. And trust me ANY of the available turbo kits would make short order of most of the Stillen cars.. I know a couple turbo cars in you area that would be happy to prove that to you..

How easy is it to change boost pressure on a turbo kit and how hard is it to do so on a supercharger. Thats the real question. Also how many Stillen kits are there as compared to turbo kits. I'd say theres at the cery least double the number of turbo kits as opposed to Stillen. I'm willing to bet its more like triple. Greater numbers provide for more chances of an issue.

I realize that, I'm sure we could never get an accurate account of % failure from turbo vs. % failure from the Stillen Kit. But I really haven't seen too many engine failures from the Stillen kit. I also realize the numbers aren't as high as turbo/other SC kits, but that probably plays a big role in reliability for a stock engine.

Well heres my point, the inherent design of the Stillen kit makes it more difficult for someone to do something that could damage the motor. That combined with the very conservative power output of the kit means that those who did install it may not be able to or be at an power production level that is going to cause damage. Most turbo people also don't have issues. But it is far easier to make things unsafe with the turbo kit and people have done it. How many total Stillen kits on this board? 20? 30? probably less. Theres 50 plus Turbonetics kits alone on this board. Ditto for the APS TT kit, and Greddy TT kit. Those three kits combine makes it triple the number of STillen. Thats triple the chances of someone having an issue. And that doesnt factor in Vortech guys, ATI guys, Eternal Design guys, APS ST guys, JWT guys, Power Enterprise guys, Speed Force Racing guys. The list goes on...

Do you live in Lebanon TN? Was your car at Bradshaws collision awhile back? If so I will be glad to meet up and give you a run in my bolton NA Z.

I hear you, the Stillen kit is overpriced and puts out low #'s but it works, and issues have been few and far between. I'm willing to bet that an untouched stillen kit is more reliable than a stock turbo kit, regradless of the numbers.

And I disagree but since theres no way to prove it whats the point of arguing. I know APS TT guys going on 30k boosted miles. I'm over 20k myself with 40k total on the car. Not sure what the longest running Stillen Z is but thats the best I can offer.

Put it this way...they're the only kit that offer engine warranty & also customer can go to certain dealership to have it installed.....I do believe that this kit has to be proven its reliability in order for them to go this far
