After logging the stock timing via UTEC with Audiblemayhem we have the typical timing that it runs. Please note that at times(mostly dependant on IAT) the ecu can advance up to 2 degrees at certain spots from what we have logged. On a typical 70 degree day in FL here is what the stock ecu timing is.

These are only observations of what this particular 350z runs for timing. I'll let the other tuners give their opinions on what timing they observe. This car has a K&N intake filter, thermal plenum spacer and test pipes. Hope this helps.

 

yup... at times the stock ecu will take out 10 degrees too for no reason

 

So audible, are you pulling 5 degrees from each of these numbers when you are on spray?

Those numbers are very consistent with what I've seen on a dozen 350Z ECU's. Looks good for stock timing.

 

Cool. I was waiting to see if this is what you observed as well. I hadn't seen anyone post this before so I figured it would be good general knowledge. I'm gonna post up TS's Greddy 8psi flash timing since that's what I run as a base with the EU on top of that. Gotta love the EU's datalogging capabilities. Took me about 5 minutes on the highway to tune the AF's for 3 different boost levels thanks to the target AF map.

 

Yes, I haven't seen this post before. Thanks! Your timing, no pun intended, is perfect because I'm having n2o installed early next week and we need to retard the timing probably 2-3 degrees. I have UTEC and it's been tuned a few times, so I didn't have the stock timing numbers.

Audible (or sharif)- when running n2o, do you retard stock timing to be conservative or do you retard timing within your current UTEC NA map?

My NA map is running advanced timing (as most tuned NA maps are).

 

set up a nitrous map that has the timing retarded as much as you need for your set up. i think my nitrous map is 4.5 degrees retarded off the stock map cause i am running a 150 shot. the rule of thumb is to run -1.5 degrees for every 50 shot of nitrous...

No the rule of thumb is 2 degrees per 50 shot. You just always test the limits.

 

actually off NOS and NX sites they say 1.5 degrees but yes granted i am an idiot... i am trying to collect piston pieces. i only have a few for my collection from your engine. wait, what, a stock motor wont hold 15 psi...
