Default Results!

Well I went out for a late lunch and stoped to pick up my car. The only problem with the install was that they had to drain the cooling system. The shop owner told me that when they losened one of the bolts the fluid started coming out. It was either drain it or allow fluid to get into the oil. What ever I didn't understand WTF he was talking about and really didn't care cause the car was done and they refilled the cooling system with royal purple ice and distilled water.

Now for the results. I got in the car, started it, and looked at the temp gauge. It was at 170. I guess they took the car around the block to check for leaks so it was still warm. I was rather close to the freeway so I turned up the boost to 16psi and took the back roads toward the freeway. I immediately started to beat the chit out of the car. I beat the *** out of it through all the gears. When I got on the freeway I redlined every gear through 5th and some of 6th. My temp gauge never went past 200. In fact most the time it stayed at 190 until I would come to a stop at a light and then it would rise to 200. As soon as I started moving again the needle would drop back to 190. When I parked the car I did notice the overflow tank was full and a little coolant on the radiator by the overflow, but maybe this could have been because I had air bubbles in the system from when it was refilled? Either way the car didn't overheat! I will continue to flog it and let you all know how it holds up. BTW, It was 90 degrees outside with 63% humidity.

I think it might be bubbles because they filled the system up in 5 minutes.....no bleeding done. I wasn't worried about it cause my greddy breather tanks takes care of the bleeding. We'll see. Either way before the bolts I could not go through the gears like I did with out my temps going up to 230 degrees or higher. I never went above 200 degrees with the bolts.

this was never intended to be an end all to the combustion leaking problem, only designed to help this one area. o-ringing, upgraded head studs, and this mod though will definately lessen the chances of running into it though.

I understand that, i was hopeing he would see the same improvement like you got. I am still not doubting it though.

I definately have air in the system. I turned on the heater and it came out cold. I filled the system with some more distilled water as the car ran with the heater on. I bleed a bunch of air, but I still have some left. Eitherway, air bubbles and all in the system the fuking car doesn't overheat during 16psi freeway runs!

Anyone tried to see what it would take to get new heads made from billet so we dont have to screw with the cheap oem heads?

Might as well have them run the program for the billet block afterwards,

Ive been talking to a couple places about getting billet block/heads made but havent had that much luck yet. No one seems to want to take the project on. I still need to call Performence Motorsport and see what they say. Anyone else know who i can contact?

anyone else that is pushing more than 1300hp in the Vq35, lol. are you using the car for strictly drag racing? if so, i would just fill the block and heads with block fill. if you are trying to get someone to machine out heads and a block and still have cooling passages, it will be nearly impossible, or at very least, a machining marvel.

I would bet that the price of a billet block and heads would greatly outway the cost of doing the necessary mods to the stock parts to get them to hold near 1500whp. With all of the strengthening mods out there now I don't believe that we have anyone with all of them yet. I could be wrong though.

I think even with everything thats out right now anything over 900whp is going to cause some problems
