Using a 5/16 allen socket on a 3/8 drive can't budge any of them. God Damnit all the things that are suppose to be easy always turn out to be a pita!

lol. torque is stored, so keep trying, they will come. it is kind of a knuckle buster though, because it takes alot of force to "unlock" them, but will come out like butter after the first 1/10th of a turn.
again, just undo one at a time with the rad cap on, and you will not lose any water.

I'm so fuked. Tried a 7mm allen socket too. Same result, 0 for 4. I hope an easy out works cause thats about my only option left that I can think of.

dam, not sure what the prob your having is. i undid 2 different sets of heads fine. all at ambient temp like yours is. like i said, torque is stored so on hard to undo bolts, keep constant hard pressure for about 5 seconds, then one quick tug. makes it so you have far less chance of stripping it.

Well I got 3 of the 4 in correctly. The one on the rear passenger side wouldn't go down all the way; the thread on that one was kinda chewed up in one spot but didn't look too bad. Well, about halfway down, it stuck, and I can't get it out because if I put anymore torque on it, it starts to break apart the slot in the stud.

Oh well, at least the other three went in perfect.....I'm kicking myself for not fixing that stud before installation.

if it is sticking up high enough, use 2 of those nuts to double nut the stud and it will easily come out.

There wasn't enough to get two of those massive bolts on, lol.

Failsafe try a screwdriver bit that is what I used to install mine. I got the bit from snap on and I had zero problems getting it in. Scott those nuts were huge. well go big or go home right? Almost got this engine back in the car just waiting on my valve buckets.

Zu L8R I had to use some force to get out those bolts as well. What you might want to try is to use a pipe on the end of the rachet to get more leverage and give that a try. Good Luck

might be able to so up in size to a SAE size maybe 3/8ths and tap it in with a hammer to get a tight fit and back it out that way. This stuff always happen to me before I got old and wise lol. Good luck let us know how it turns out.

Dont do that..You will get metal shavings in your combustion chamber and damage your motor.

What about using a impact gun or ratchet? Would this be advisable?

I was gonna have a vac going the @ the same time I'm drilling. I'll try vice grips first but I don't know if I get enough of them to grip.
