Default g35 greddytt/built engine: chapter 2&1/2

the mechanical work is now finished!!!

I just trailered my car back to my house & snapped a couple of pics.

Next week I bring it down to CPracing in charlotte for the tune.
The engine sounds great, idles a little rough due to the 550 injectors, but I just disconnected a vacuum line & the idle is perfect. I'll probably do the small hole on the throttle plate mod before I bring it down to Charlotte.

I'm also going to re-route the air filters to right behind the bumper cover & out of the engine bay, like others on the board have talked about.

I'll take some daylight pics of all the extra goodies I installed over the next week or 2.

pics of my Hotchkis sway bar. (set at med/med)
new quaife diff. can't see ot but its in there
intercooler, notice my bumper brace is in there!!
new kurumaZ bumper

more pics to follow next week

How did you fit your brace on there with the intercooler?

we cut out the back 1/3 of the brace.
Its pretty lightweight aluminium, just used a reciprocating saw with a fine metal blade. I'll take some close up pics next week when I take the bumper cover back off.
on a scale of 1-4 screwdrivers, I'd give it a 1&1/2 screwdrivers

thanks,

I bought it on eBay, from a guy I bought stuff from before.
Good quality. I bought an remote dual oil filter/ dual bypass set from him also with a large cooler. So large it doesn't fit in there, so I'm going to buy a slightly smaller one from him this week. It's going on the passanger side vent opening. The tranny cooler was like $45 shipped, including hoses & fittings.

Check out my other "THREADS STARTED". In there you'll find other threads that have some pics & more details about what I've been doing over the last month or so.

I like the look of it. Fits real well too. I just haven't really gotten to drive my car that much. I miss it.

The side inlets work out real nice for adding coolers/radiators in there.
I'm still debating on weather I'm going to install the screens they sent.
I guess I'll just install them & see which I like better.

todd,
Your engine is very quite. (My engine now)

Like I said the idle is a bit rough due to the injector size & the stock air/fuel maps not knowing what to do with them.

When I initally researched the whole build-up, I was a little nervous about the extreme duty pistons be noisy or slapping, I believe is the correct term. After I spoke with you & Sharif I decided on the stronger pistons and I'm glad I did. Not too much of a price difference & no piston slap at all.
The engine sounds totally stock.

also purchased a cooling mist setup (water/methanol)
used a 2.5 gallon plastic gas can, painted hammmered aluminium.
I'll be installing it & the pump in the trunk, off to the left.
I bought this after reading/researching another thread, here.

We definitely will get together when we get em back!!!

True indeed. The entire bottom section of the piston is complete developed and supported by the cylinder wall. This one of the reasons the pistons dont rock or slap the cylinder walls. Even my nasty 100mm ED pistons exhibit no unusual noises. :thumbup

Nice work...can't wait to see the beast next week.
