so what are people wrapping? The aluminum section I'm assuming or all of it? Does that help with cold AC or just to protect the line from burning a hole in it?

The rubber section of the line, the aluminum is not going to melt

Had to get mine fixed. Both took a dump while doing dyno runs. Got a new bottom one through t'netics warranty, the top was an install error.

Don't use that exhaust wrap to cover the rubber part of the line. It is designed just to keep heat in exhaust pipes, not shield hoses from heat. I used this foil-like, ribbed insulation that I picked up from a Dave Turner's Motorsport (race shop) in SD. I double wrapped it. Has been working fine for a few months. Even lasted through 100 degree temps driving to/from vegas recently.

On the top hose i used 1 layer of the included self adhesive foil backed insulation, and two layers of thermotec , im not so sure that the exhaust wrap knows whether its holding heat in or out of something.

Well before the wrapped line that is next to the exhaust side of the turbo (that was originally wrapped crappy went), then the line that is below/next to the intake side of the turbo went bad.

Got both replaced and the wrapped line, wrapped better (a couple of weeks ago at CPRace)...

But nope, trip to MD over the weekend... Then smoke, and some coolent spraying.

From what we can tell, got so hot with the long trip and some driving into boost that either one happened after the other or happened at the same time.

A/C line blew causing the smoke with all the hot exhaust pipes, then with the pressure causing that coolent hose to give spraying some into the bay.

I say this because A/C worked before, and after not anymore lol. And that all the hoses, lines, etc... All seem fine.

So going to Sharif@ForgedPerformance this week, and get the A/C line or lines replaced AGAIN.

Then one weekend take off all the pipes, heat wrapping them, and then buying that turbo blanket.

So all in all, the long *** drive with going into boost... Alot of heat with the A/C wrapped line laying up against the exhaust side pipe were the cause.

And hopefully I will avoid this in the future
