gnxs-how do you know when your slicks are worn out? I bought these used guy said they had about 50 passes on them, Ive used them for 2 seasons now and they seem like they dont smoke or hook up as much anymore. Time to replace I imagine? I used to do better 1st gear burnouts, even though I never was huge on that in this video I did many 2nd gear burnouts and could barely get smoke. Any input would be appreciated.
I've only run DRs on my Cobra, but in the past I used 9 inch MT Slicks on my GN. They had little holes (to show tread depth) in them.....when you couldn't see the little holes, they were worn out.

Time for some new tires for sure. Anything you would recommend? Just do ET Streets again or something else? I need to start doing some research on this...

ET streets are good for 7's so I think your good with those....do a brake stand after you get your upgraded axles and hello 1.6 60ft... Good luck man...I'm putting together my setup as we speak....

Sorry for the sidetrack Alberto.
So...What are you implying... That I can't drive my car?? The fact that despite the conditions I kept in it and contolled my sliding and still ran a decent time shows driving skill itself..8/10 people would of hit the wall of let off for fear of hitting the wall..Anyways I agree..with my power I def should be in the 10's...I'm working on my setup and going to a different track..I'll have a 10 sec slip and put your name on it..

I always had good luck with the ET Drags (1.47 60 ft. on my stock suspension [with airbags] GN). Are these a track only tire?

Ive never really launched these on the street but I have driven on them to the track (15 min) a bunch of times, so id day 90/10 - drag/street use. Ive heard that the new ET Street Radials are less floaty but hook as hard as the ET Streets. Heard anything like that? ET Drag would be overkill on my weaksauce whp levels wouldnt it?

Edit-they dont make ET Drags in 26" diamteter for 16" wheels (remember I run 16" slicks to clear Brembos) so its ET Streets again or ET Street Radials.

I have 275/40/17 MT DR's on my Cobra. They are awesome tires...VERY STICKY. They hook very well on the street as long as the road isn't too cold.

I haven't raced on true slicks in a while, but the DR's do not "float" at all and runs straight and true. I managed a 1.66 60 ft. with them Sunday and the size I run doesn't have a hell of alot of sidewall.

BTW, Mickey Thompson is coming out with a bunch of new sizes soon (and a slightly different tread pattern). Maybe the 295mm 16 inch tire would work for ya:

Jisniz no problem man I was just looking at the ET Street Radials and they make those in a 17" tire, Im very tempted to run a 17" matching LE37 in the back and just drive on those on the weekends or when I want to really mess around Although I dont think it would work as well as the 16" setup...

Ok so ET STreet Radials are basically their DR set up. Wow those new sizes are awesome, Im really tempted to run a 17" setup and run a more streetable tire. Thanks for the info...if I do that Ill never put my 19"s on the back again

When I picked up my ET Street radials the other day the guy was telling me how the local LS1 guys have been breaking their **** because they hook so hard.

This is the reason why I'm still on the fence as to if I should just buy some 17" ET Street Radials for my stock 17s, or drop some ET Streets on some 300zxtt wheels I can get ahold of. I've heard great things about both tires, and some tend to believe that the Radials would be plenty for what power I've got.

If your signature is up to date, the MT drag radials will be more than enough for you.

Keep in mind that these DRs are DEADLY in the rain. I noticed Taurran was in FL. Not the tire you want to get caught on in a downpour. Maybe the new tread design they're coming out with will be better on wet roads, but I personally know of two people that crashed in the rain on the current ones.

I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH HOW BAD THEY ARE WHEN STANDING WATER IS ON THE ROAD.

Yeah, I wouldn't plan on driving with these on the streets really, other than at the track or if the weather permits on the street.

Stock wheels are fine. Not sure about what the best 17" size would be but I know many Z owners running the 265/40 18" BFG DR's on stock 18" pre 06' touring wheels and new 18" 06' wheels.

Edit-does your friend drive a Z? If so how much power? Done correctly 400whp could be launched on a 265 DR, although Id go for the 295 with over 400whp
