Default Vortech plus other mods...

Hey guys, My car is in the shop right now getting a Vortech installed. Pre installation my mods are Stillen TD exhaust, Test Pipes, Alphawerks headers, 1/2" plenum spacer. Got two questions for y'all since there seems to be a ton of FI knowledge floating around here.

1) With the mods I have listed above is it necessary to replace the stock injectors with larger injectors?

2) Would taking off the test pipes and going back to stock cats be a good decision in terms of better performance out of my Vortech SC? I say no, but just want to make sure...

I appreciate your help

keeep the test pipes for better flow throught the exhaust, also upgraded the injectors wouldnt hurt but if the kit safely runs on them no need, unless your looking for more power which u would need bigger injectors

Have fun with the rasp. I had the vortech with stillen dual and crawford cats and still had minor rasp at wot at certain rpms.
I would h***ard to guess that you will have quite a bit more than me. I would consider h/f cats over test pipes, but thats just me.

I have had rasp for 5k miles now, my exhaust sounds to nice to let some rasp between 3k-3.5k make me change it. I am more concerned about the performance aspect, not the sound...

Rasp with the open exhauat is a given . You have to restrict it to get rid of it completely . As far as injectors and the kit . Vortech made it safe to run on the stockers . You can go to the smaller pulley and have it tuned and be ok .

I got 1lb. less boost with the cats on, seemed to lose a bit on the bottom end, but made more mid and up top.

Vortech claims 8psi out of the box, I have headers, test pipes and a 3 inch exhaust and my car makes around 7psi at redline on the stock pulley.

Mods are below.... No rasp, and pulling 9lbs with 3.12 pulley on stock injectors. I love this frickn' kit she starts to pull HARD at 3.4K all the way to redline... I have only tightened my belt 1x after the 1st 500 miles and it is still as tight as a virgin on her wedding day using the NAPA belt (over 4K miles on the kit now)... That is one thing I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST..... Get the NAPA belt instead of the belt that comes with the kit... it is that much BETTER...

GL...

An open exhaust will also reduce boost in most cases , but increase hp up top
