Wow man, sorry to hear that berto.. I busted my passenger side inner CV joint last Tuesday.
I was running a little over 100 when I hit a racoon, he smashed into the CV joint/axle and BOOM... I had the same problems as MIR all over again.
It is fixed, but hell yea, that axle nut was at biatch to get off, and the threads are pretty fine, so be careful putting her back on.
Good luck bro.

I want to thank Todd for the sweet deal on that axle and the advice-thanks again!! It took me 30-35 minutes to do, I had to remove the APS 3" TD from the rear 2 hangers to make clearance for the new one to go in, no biggie. It was a very easy job, just the 32mm nut, and 6 14mm nuts/bolts and voila its in/out. The axle snapped right inside the inner CV boot, and on the way out the axle tore the boot. I'll post pics tomorrow as the axle/camera are in my other car, I arove the Z today Gotta wash off all these hand marks from pushing it around the parking lot....

And your welcome, anytime

Glad everything worked out. Told you it was a easy fix. Makes breaking one of them not soooo bad.

Later

Oh-1 thing I forgot to mention, the axle nut was barely on, it took minimal force to break it loose it must have been on with less than 50ft/lbs. I was in shock it had not backed out to the cotter pin, but was on its way out All you FI guys always spinning in 1st and 2nd, check that nut next time you have your rear wheels off, I checked the drivers side and it was fine. I have never had that off or messed with it, I guess its something Im goin gto periodically check from now on.

Nice...glad you are back on the road. I think you need to keep an inventory of stock axles, for next time. I am sure it wont be the last.

Exclamation No more snap?

I bit the bullet guys-I came across an AWESOME deal locally for a set of new DSS Level 5 axles. The seller needed money and I figured what the hell...here are pics of the stock broken shaft and inner CV, along with the Level 5's. I'll have these in before a September track day we have coming up, Im launching as hard as I possibly can on these, if they break I'll have stockers as back ups

I'm sure its even better being that its local. Damn you guys and your fast cars lol. Living in LA, you have a better chance of finding a flying hippo than DSS axles for sale

Convenience ftw!
