Project SAA2 Turbonetics Update
Those are some great numbers for sure. I think Sharif is on the right track with the turbine housing. Of course keeping in mind that this particular turbine wheel and housing were chosen with different target parameters in mind its not too surprising it might be reaching the limit of its flow potential. Stage 2's turbo will not have this problem. The turbine will be chosen to ensure adequate flow potential for exhaust flow far exceeding what you have now. And the turbine wheel design they are going to use will eliminate the need to run as small of an A/R to keep the spool up time decent. I can't wait to see Stage 2 on your car. Its going to change the way people think about STs for sure. On a side note I didn't notice cams in that list either. Any particular reason why?

From what I've talked to Kojima about, extrude honing the housings makes a more dramatic difference than most people think. He thought I could gain 10whp running low boost on a t28 from extrude honing......I think a 10whp gain from that on the 60-1 stage v wheel is a conservative estimate.

Overall, I was actually very surprised with the power levels, given Jet's bone stock heads....not even a camshaft.
Hi All,
I didn't go with camshafts becasue I knew stage II is around the corner, and I knew with the stage II I could have the power I wanted (true 450whp) without camshafts. Cams are $1500. That's likely what it will cost me to go to the stage II. I'm not looking for more than 450whp so I decided to spend that money on the Turbonetics upgrade.

Congrats on the great #'s Jet. My car is being tunned at Turbo XS today for the break in period with a similar setup. The car wouldn't run on the turbonetics reflash which doesn't make much sense. So hopefully all goes well today and I'm able to pick the car up tonight. I am probably going to be getting the stage 2 after the break in period and have Turbo XS tune it with that. I know you've got to be happy to have your car back especially with that kind of power. I have been waiting 3.5 months and am dying to get mine back.

Try a new housing, change the tune, try another, etc. This particular turbine housing is unique for Turbonetics. Its a Stage V housing with a .77 A/R Tangential Undivided Kokelen housing. I looked through the parts list Turbonetics has and its not even listed. The only turbine housing larger then that for a Stage 5 turbine is a .84 but its not available with a 4 bolt discharge. So short story I don't they have anything they stock that fits with a larger A/R. They might though. I'll ask.
i keed, i keed.

dont know if the trim will match but they make a 1.06A/R 4 bolt housing that might be close.

the turbo that fits the Stage 5 turbine wheel. Is that turbine housing you are talking about tangential or on center

Alright so just curious, i realize its a turbonetics turbo but whats stopping you from putting on a garrett gt35 or even larger, those are amazing turbos and make excellent power. Ive seen several 4 cylinder sr20's with the gt30's easily hitting the upper 450's with that turbo. Granted I havent done any calcs on either turbonetics turbo or garrett turbo to see how it matches up with the vq motor but it seems that a gt35 or gt40 would put you well into the 500's with plenty of air to spare.
