I wonder if somehow the ignition timing got screwed up, or was never right to begin with. It must have gotten EXTREMELY hot in there to melt plugs like that!

Wow...if that is it, what you think it is; then that block needs some major work. I mean, to have 6 pistons simultaneously disintegrate with fragments damaging the ground & center electrodes; the chances of the sleeves being intact would be extremely slim.

On the bright side, you'll have one hell of a block, once it's rebuilt.

Good Luck

Read in another post that in Stillen's fine print, it mentions the 36K mile warranty is only for the first 36K miles on the car, not 36K miles on the S/C kit or from the time you put it on. Anybody know anything about that? Are you planning on ditching the Stillen if you build the block?

not saying that all six pistons let go, saying that the one cylinder that had the brojen plug- that one probably did a bit more than just get too hot! with 0 compression and a broken oily spark plug, the gods are not smiling upon this piston

I guess that would explain #3's ceramic disintegrating completely. It appears that #3 & #2 took the biggest hits.

I was able to read the extended warranty and it says it is 36k from the day of purchase of the stillen sc.

I'm building the block, but for now the Stillen is going to stay on, until I can sell it and go twin. But at least the motor will be ready for it.

Have you discovered why the pre-ignition?

definately investigate as to why the tune ran so lean... do you have an onboard wideband? what is your normal A/F at WOT? possibly switch to different engine management to insure safety of current setup- something that would still be used when you eventualy do switch to a turbo setup...

I'm waiting until next week. I'm on the road right now and Wednesday I should be picking some of my stuff that is in storage. The warranty paperwork is all in there. Give it a week. Believe me, this is not going away.

I am also considering the Stillen SC and would also like to know what caused this. This may be obvious but what octance fuel were you running? Are you running a boost gauge and air/fuel gauge with boost and a/f that were in their proper ranges? Lastly, were colder spark plugs installed with your kit?

I'm strapped for cash right now and don't want to start the process until I can at least get 70% of the funds saved up.
