Hmmm very good...got my external wastegate pipe for the APS single turbo... I guess I will go to an open dump instead of recirculating the exhaust. Can't wait to scare people on the highway at full boost while passing them.

I'll will report back results in a couple of weeks.

Well I've had to do a lot of reading around since no "professional shop" could ever give me an answer on fixing my boost creep issue on the APS single turbo kit. So I found this:

https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...overboost.html

luckily managed to snag a used APS external wastegate conversion pipe since it wasn't being produced anymore.

So I'm hoping it will solve my issue of creeping from 9 to 10.5/11 at wot. And give myself a sound enhancement in the process.

I suppose it's too late to ask if this will be a sucessful solution since I've already committed the money to trying it, but does anyone know if it will work?

alot of tuners artificially create boost creep to extend the torque band. So i dont see that as "problem" if you are tuned for it.

but either porting your internal gate or going to ewg like you did should fix the "problem"

Default Open Dumps do matter (torque-wise)

My experience has been that open dumps do make substantially more torque at similar boost levels. I know that it is different cars but me and my friend were on the same dyno with identical setups (GTM TT Stage 2) with External gates, etc. The only difference in our setups is that I have the 3" GTM Exhaust with my WGs recirculated. He is running the HKS Hi-power exhaust with open dumps. Both are moderating boost with PWM based boost controllers. My car was running 11.8psi and his was running 11.5psi. Same tuner - Mr. Jon Parham from Z1 Motorsports. Done a couple hours apart.

These are both 2007 VQ35HRs with exactly the same fueling system and Uprev flashed cars.

My turbo kit comes with a dump pipe that goes back Into the exhaust. I made a cover plate for the exhaust going back in and run open dump for a mile then put it back to normal. Even at idle it sounded loud as **** like a dicey Honda exhaust coming from the open dump. **** would make ur ears bleed.

Your wastegates shouldnt be open at idle.

My dumps are only active when I am in boost.

I didn't think so either. I had them rebuilt when I pulled motor. It was missing some piece from what I was told internally. I just hated the sound Of it on mine. U could hear my normal exhaust and then a second Honda exhaust sound from the waste gate. Never cared to try again after I got it fixed

I have open dumps on mine too and love them... Only opened when under boost, and it is the one of the most free flowing form of exhausts you can have without straight open headers.
