Please help me understand the FCON VPRO.
Ultimately the question is.....do you want to spend the money up front on an EMS that will keep the F/I motor alive with reliability as close to a stock ECU as possible.......or do you want to fork over the same amount of cash down the line to rebuild a motor because you went cheap on the most critical part of an F/I kit in the first place??

This is what I have ALWAYS said, you are going to spend the money regardless. Might as well do it right the FIRST time.

I just don't understand why people continually ignore this concept when going F/I on the 350Z/G35. It has been seen over....and over....and over again that the only motors that seem to last and put up big numbers are the HKS FCON cars. With anything else it just seems to be a matter of time before they let go. The more you can remove the stock ecu influence from the tune the better off the motors seem to be. The FCON does this in spades. If I was going to do F/I again I wouldn't hesitate for an instant.

Once an FCON is tuned for a particular boost level, it rarely needs to be retuned. Ambient conditions, altitude, and other factors are all compensated for, and with closed loop, and tuner-defined open loop feedback, the FCON will also be learning and adjusting itself....even after the the tune is complete.
Becuase the FCON resolution is so granular, we can tune through all the various boost pressures the engine will see...from low to high, and operate the engine with just one map for pump gas...but across all the pressure sites. So if the custom wishes to run 10psi, or 12psi, or 15psi, they simply raise the boost and continue on their way.

But yes, major changes to the engine or serious modifications would require a retune.
My 2 cents on the FCON VPRO! My car has run so much smoother and faster since the HKS. I have had the Greddy EU, UTEC. The FCON is so much smoother. I think the Money for the FCON is so well spent IMO. I still think IMO that my stock Rev-up motor is the hardest pushed on this site. With Sharif tunning all my ECU's this is by far is the fastest and smoothest. Just look at my 1/4 times this is at 410whp, with over 80 passes and some track days. I believe it's all in the tune/tune, but having three EMS on my car the FCON is the only way to go.

Let me explain:
You do a "test" run at a richer than normal AFR with conservative timing. Sometimes 2 of them. Immediately chop the motor, and pull the plugs. Depending on what they look like, you trim those individual cylinders accordingly. VQs tend to run consistent as far as which cylinders need to be trimmed up due(in part) to the wonderful design of the intake manifold.
