Default Axle Poll?

My car is being built as I type, my question is I plan to make 500+whp and do a siginificant amount of drag racing with DR and maybe slicks, should get stage 2 axles or would I be fine stock.

I've heard of stock axles taking a lot of HP so what should I do at the level.

I wouldn't take a chance on it. lvl 2 at the bare minimum, lvl 5 to be safe.

I snapped my driver side at 469whp last year. They're not that expensive for the peace of mind... Besides, just getting my car back up and running afterwards (with a stock axle) cost more than it would have to upgrade them before the accident...

I would just go with Level 5 and not have to worry about it. Dubble if you are even thinking about running slicks.

I've also seen level 5's snap at 450ish rwhp. So nothing is fully bulletproof. I'd still get level 5's just in case.

i'd go with the stage 5's if you drag race with slicks/drag radials a lot

anyone else who doesn't do hard launches in 1st gear with slicks, the stock ones are fine

525whp didnt snap mine. People buy DSS axles and have a false sense of security, ie. clutchdrops. More important than the axles is how you launch, if you know what your doing you will likely be fine on stock axles...

Yea, just keep in mind what Berto said.... Snapping axles has a lot more to do with how you launch then the power level.
I broke my DSS level 5's... but if you do it right, I am confident the new level5's are much sturdier...

I think I understand what you mean, like no clutch dumping @ 6000rpm right?

LOL, yea that is pretty much how I busted mine... NOT a good idea, no matter what axles you are running.

As for the question about the stronger axles. I know that since I busted the inner CV joint on mine, DSS is now including the upgraded inner CV joint with their level 5's. I am really not sure you would need to go much beyond that, if you make that too strong, the next weakest point will fail... (LSD, driveshaft... ???) If you look at a set of Level 5's you will see that they are MUCH beefier then stock, I don't see how you would need much more unless you were running 305 DR's with like 600+rwhp..

I bought the level 5's before they had the inner hub axle upgrade. I'll contact them to see if i can get just that.
