Default finally got my APS ST Kit Installed, have Questions for APS OWNERS

I finally got my APS ST Kit installed

First of all thanks for everyone on this forum that has helped me out with knowledge..im still learning!

Mods:
Aps st kit
Rps Clutch max
Rps Segmented Flywheel
Aps Tallboy
Aps Single Turbo Exhaust

and Blitz boost controler with boost gauge built it

overall i love the car, definitly has alot of power for me, especially a person owning a turbo car for the first time. its a lil hard getting use to clutch, especially driving thru traffic everyday going to school and work.

any how.
so i notice couple of things. that someone might can clear up, since im getting use to all the knowledge..

1. my car in the morning, when i start, for the first time..it smoked for about 5 minutes. then it went away, is this normal? it was white smoke???

2. so im suppose to be tuned at 9lb of boost
now when i start the car, it shows -20 i guess thats my vaccum?
so when i drive it, is it supose to go up to 9lbs? or is that when i get on the car hard, then the 9lb of boost will deliever? also when im driving at constant speed of 80 in 6th gear, it shows im at like -18 to-16 vac. and like 4.0 peak, then it changes.. im preety sure everything is correct, but just wanted to know how it works, and when do i get to see my 9lb of boost,

so far thats all the questions. so far...
thanks

the smoke is fine, i have an aps st as well and sometimes it will smoke when i turn the car on....as long as it isn't constantly smoking, u don't have anything to worry about. the 9psi only kicks in when you step on it, under normal driving conditions, the car is just like your stock z and the turbo is not used. hope that helps, and congrats on the new found power! you'll love it.

the full power from the turbo kicks in at a certain rpm and I'm guessing since you have a single turbo that it will kick in at around 3500-4000 because the turbo needs time to spool up.

Congrats on going FI. I'll be there in about 8 days. I like to see the Atlanta area grow big in the Z family.

i have another question for you??
since aps st on 350z majority of the parts are located on the bottom of your car, near your tranny

when you drive or turn, do you hear rumbling, coming from down there? for some reason i hear rumbling when turn the car left or right slowly, but when i drive it goes away..??? is that normal?

You mean rattling?? Turbo pipings might be hitting your frame... because your engine moves around in your engine bay.... Get yourself an engine damper.. Either the Weapon R or the Stillen damper will do.. Mine did that as well, and the engine damper fixed it.

Also, turbos only boost when there is a load.. If you slowly raise the RPM, you won't get any boost at all.. You gotta stomp on the gas to boost. Good for the gas mileage...

Have fun! You made a good choice~

The white smoke in the morning is normal. as long as it goes away after its warmed up.

-20 vaccum at idle indicates your car is doing fine.

as leeboy said if you ease on your gas pedal and gradually raise the rpm you wont get in boost. if you go WOT it'll start spooling up and you'll reach full boost at around 3500-4000 rpm. thats the beauty of turbo, you can drive the car like a stock Z and if you wanna unleash it just give it full throttle!

btw, what numbers you got out of her?

Engine moves around quite of bit under the hood... If you don't have any loost bolts or anything like that.. I'm sure it's the same problem... Mine rattled because one of the turbo pipes was rubbing against the body at high rpm. Make sure no bolts are loose... If nothing else fixes it, try an engine damper. It fixed mine!!

If you got a ranch set, you can do it in 10 min.. Just loosen up some bolts and put the damper on and tighten the bolts back. Done.

oh yea. i dont know ..but since this is my first turbo car, i dont no if im disapointed with the outcome of the horsepower and torque? what do you guys think? well i was tuned at 9lb of boost, and i got 360 rwhp, and 359lb of torque??? i just think it had more potentional, specially using the aps single turbo exhaust, tallboy,..i dont no what you think guys??

i got it installed from z1, and they said it was a safely tuned for daily drive, since i drive to work and school everday, and traffic like crazy going thru downtown..??? they did mention if was aggressive tune, i have to sign a waiver?

Id say drop to 6-7 lbs of boost, 9 lbs WILL blow your motor, do some hw on these forums you'll see. If your motor isnt built forget it, 9 lbs is too much for stock block. Just my .02

360 is maybe 10-20 hp lower than I would have expected, but very well within the ballpark. That 360 could very well be 400 on another dyno and 325 on yet another.

The exhaust is needed for proper flow and proper function of the kit more so than increased power. It will make more power than a stock exhaust though. The tallboy won't really add power either. Just equal flow to the cylinders. It might add power along the curve, but not really much peak power.

The thing you have to remember is that the kit is not the limiting factor in your situation, the tune is. If you want more power, have them tune you to more power; increase the boost, add in some additional timing, etc.

Definitely not true. TQ and improper setups/tunes are what eat up stock blocks, not the amount of boost. At 360 tq his motor should be fine

It is definately a safe tune. The A/F was great and the Timing maps are not aggressive. When we tune a car, safety is always number one factor, not max HP/TQ. Especially on a stock VQ.
