Default Somethings Wrong.....Vortech

Got in my car this morning to run errands and upon starting I noticed a bad whine coming from the blower. Not the whine I 've heard from other blowers where it sounds like a rattle can or rocks n the blower. More of a deep whirring sounds. Maybe like the propeller blades were rubbing in there. I pulled the oil feed return lines to make sure they were clean and oil was getting through. Put it all back together and the whine ws still there. Gave it a little gas and black liquid/soot sprayed about 4 feet out of my exhaust. Car choked up a little to. Any ideas? I just got the blower back from Vortech about 3 months ago for service.

Just let the car run for 5 min and gave it a little throttle and more spray came out of the exhaust but it was less. There is no white smoke. Oil pressure was a little less than 30psi at idle

You think with the whine you described it would be the gear set in the blower . But with black soot coming from the exhaust. Im confused . I would also break open the IC pipe right at the BOV and check for oil in the IC pipe .

it looks like you have a bad piston ring, engine oil gets into the exhaust.
Time for rebuilding.

Um, he said NO smoke coming out the exhaust.

Most likely running too rich for whatever reason...bad injector, etc..

I have no idea about the whining sound though.

It's probably just condensation, not oil. A busted ring would smoke out his garage in no time flat

When my Z was running too rich at startup, it shot soot and condensation 4-6 feet behind my car.

Exactly...I have two big black spots on my garage door from trying to scale my injectors....the car was 3 to 4 feet away from it .

No oil.....cool...so the seals are good in the blower . Did the whine go away when you removed the blower cog belt ?

Still have the black soot ? Try driving the car with cog belt off , but dont go more than 1/2 throttle and only gradually press down the gas . See what your A/F guage reads .

Hmmmm...maybe a injector got stuck open and is okay now . Strange !

I would go ahead and try hooking the blower back up . Test it and see if its okay . See if the soot comes back ? If its still has the very loud whine ?

Oh..after you hook the blower back up , make sure the BOV is open and venting the air at idle .
